Space Centurion #1 Posted January 18, 2013 Hi all, not sure if this has been mentioned or not before here, or if I am in the right place for this, but anyways..... There is what seems to be a large movement in the US and Canada to bring your SX-64 to your local starbucks on Sunday, Jan 20 2013 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of it's announcement. The SX-64 is considered to be the worlds first portable COLOUR computer. Someone somewhere figured that as Starbucks allows everyone to sit and use their computer there, why not lug an old portable computer to Starbucks, have a coffee, and play some games with some friends. Original info here... http://c64.berrydejager.com/sx64party/ I know our local Commodore club TPUG (Toronto Pet Users Group) has been planing a small invasion of the local Starbucks, and there will be plenty more all over the planet. It also looks like the TPUG guys are going to get their SX-64's on the wifi for even more fun! So, if you have a SX-64, why not lug it out and have some fun. If you don't, plan B is to run a C64 emulator on a laptop at Starbucks. In any event, long live 8 bit!!

Metal Jesus #3 Posted January 18, 2013 There is nothing about this post that I don't like. What a hilarious idea! If I still had my SX-64, I'd be all over this!
Cebus Capucinis #4 Posted January 18, 2013 I'm going to bring my Kaypro ][ and be an 'outsider', sitting in the corner glaring at all the SX-64s. LMAO Seriously though, that is a hilarious idea, and I bet it will spark some interest in the younger crowds (read: hipsters) as to these older machines! Tanrunomad #7 Posted January 18, 2013 Any other San Diegans around? I don't own an SX-64, but I can bring my Compaq Portable and cheer you on.
simbalion #8 Posted January 18, 2013 What a neat idea! I wish I could have found one of these units myself, but if we had a Starbucks here and I had the disk drives working on my TRS-80 4P, I'd take it along for the evening.
Hatta #9 Posted January 18, 2013 That is just about the only thing that could get me into a Starbucks.
Mirage #10 Posted January 18, 2013 I wish I'd picked up an SX-64 at some point over the years. Always wanted to, probably had a few chances, never took them. Well, I certainly hope pictures become available!
+HatNJ #11 Posted January 19, 2013 Got a Starbucks and own an SX-64 Way down here but wouldn't be much of a party with just me

jmetal88 #13 Posted January 19, 2013 Dude, that sounds like an awesome idea! I'm sure I would be the only person in my town doing this if I went, though, haha.
