+Gemintronic #1 Posted January 23, 2013 No pics for now. I just found a mystery board in my closet. The cartridge edge has 12 contacts per side. The ZIF socket is a TexTool 224-3344 24 Pin IC ZIF Socket. It has a FAIRCHILD DM74LS04N Hex Inverting Gates chip mounted in a smaller socket. Am I looking at an early "flash cart" like device for the 2600? What kind of ROM/EEPROM chip would this take?

+Gemintronic #3 Posted January 23, 2013 You know you're a collector when you don't even know what all you got. True that. Besides the socketed 2600 "cart" I found a 2 megs Dreamcast memory card and a PSX joystick to Dreamcast adapter - both still in box - I didn't know I had today

+Gemintronic #5 Posted January 23, 2013 Sorry cant find that. Does it sound like a program-your-own-chip cart device? I've searched Google to find people that have scavenged their own 2600 carts and retrofitted a 24 pin ZIF socket. http://www.techdose..../139/page1.html
CPUWIZ #6 Posted January 23, 2013 It's a 4K only EPROM PCB, probably a homebrew of yesteryear.
+Gemintronic #7 Posted January 23, 2013 Do you guys think there's a chance this 32k 2532 equivalent would work? Program the first 4k and go? http://www.weisd.com/ProductView.php?PN=2532-EPROM
Wickeycolumbus #8 Posted January 23, 2013 Do you guys think there's a chance this 32k 2532 equivalent would work? Program the first 4k and go? http://www.weisd.com...p?PN=2532-EPROM The 2532 is actually the correct size. It's 32Kbits, so that is equal to 4Kbytes. There are two types of 4K EPROMs typically used in 2600 cartridges, the 2532 and 2732. It's impossible to tell which the cartridge is made for unless you look at how the socket is connected to the PCB and you know what you're looking for. The pinouts are slightly different, so using one in place of the other will not work without rewiring.
