ASCII Pitfall!

Recommended Posts

http://meatfighter.com/pitfall/

I found this ASCII port of Pitfall, and though I'm sure it's probably be posted on AA I can't not post it. It's a very smooth console-based port of Pitfall, it's a little easier, and it's got parallax scrolling to boot. What more could you want?

Well I could want it to run in Windows 8, but I can't seem to get it to work. It ran just fine on the XP machine in my office, but won't work for Windows 7 or 8. I do have an XP machine in the other bedroom of my apt, but that computer isn't hooked up to the internet, doesn't have speakers, etc etc. Running this in Windows 8 would be a dream. Anyway, enjoy the port and if anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the response: I had tried dosbox and it did not have a compatibility mode option. I assumed (probably incorrectly) that .NET 3.5 was included in Windows 8, is that not the case?

Looks like I'm SOL. Enabled the 3.5 framework and still getting the same "This application cannot run" error message. Such a bummer, I wish the creator had just made it a simple application. Guess I'll give the XP machine a shot at it.

Okay, back to the .net one, I'm looking at the "details" of why it can't run and I get this:

"Deployment and application do not have matching security zones."

That's the only error as far as I can tell... seriously Microsoft? Anyways, probably still a long shot but I thought I'd post the error in case anyone has dealt with it before.

EDIT: YEEEAAAAAAAA got it to work. The error is beyond stupid.......You have to...wait for it.....use Internet Explorer. Had no idea .net was that stupid.
