0078265317 #1 Posted February 3, 2013 I just scored a 2600 jr and 1 controller off ebay 15 dollars. If it works I only need to keep one. Already have a sears telegames 6 switch. So I will re ebay one of them. Which should I keep. Is the picture better on the jr. Or did jr have a lot of issues. Or is sears more rare. Which should I keep. littleman jack #2 Posted February 3, 2013 The Sears unit is probably way more sturdy and better shielded. The jr.s came out near the end of the 2600s run, when Jack T. was making them most cheaply. However, some people love the small size of the jr. and the wedge design.Which one do you like better?
+Nathan Strum #3 Posted February 3, 2013 Keep the one you like to use the most. Personally, I'd keep the Sears, because 1) I've had the same one for 30 years and 2) the sixers have a better switch layout. That said, if you decide to get rid of the Sears, I might be interested in buying it, since mine currently isn't working.
sqoon #4 Posted February 3, 2013 Sears Video Arcade consoles are too good looking with that knotty woodgrain. I don't even see how there is a question here.

accousticguitar #6 Posted February 3, 2013 I would keep them both. That way if one of them stops working you have a backup.
accousticguitar #7 Posted February 3, 2013 If you have to get rid of one of them the junior will accommodate more games due to a larger game slot.
0078265317 #8 Posted February 3, 2013 I don't have space for both. I'll just ebay one. Or let nathan have the sears if the jr works. And when the jr stops working just ebay the games and stuff.
accousticguitar #9 Posted February 3, 2013 The junior is a lot smaller too.
0078265317 #10 Posted February 3, 2013 As for the larger games slot are you saying some games won't work on 2600 or sears and only jr.
yell0w_lantern #11 Posted February 3, 2013 The 6 switch seems more iconic to me. That being said, I don't own one.
RickR #12 Posted February 3, 2013 I have a six switch and a jr. I use the Jr a lot more. It is smaller, and games fit in easier (it doesn't have the little flip cover on the cart slot). But that's just me.
littleman jack #13 Posted February 3, 2013 As for the larger games slot are you saying some games won't work on 2600 or sears and only jr. Some late red label games and some Imagic games are a bit wider. I've never heard they might not fit an early 2600. I have noticed they don't fit in a 7800. But maybe he's saying they won't fit the 6 switch systems like your Sears.
0078265317 #14 Posted February 3, 2013 Well there's only a few sears on ebay now. And no loose ones. Only with games and 1 with box. So maybe it is becoming rare.
sqoon #15 Posted February 3, 2013 Jr's are definitely more common than Sears consoles.
adam242 #16 Posted February 3, 2013 I still regret selling my Sears heavy sixer. I'd hang on to that one... The jr would be much easier to find another, should you want to.
littleman jack #17 Posted February 3, 2013 I'd keep the Sears and sell the Jr. (or somehow keep both so one can be a backup like accousticguitar suggested).

+Nathan Strum #19 Posted February 3, 2013 Just the unit and no ac adapter. What would you be willing to spend? And what is wrong with yours? Price would depend on the condition. As for mine, I still have to sort that out. Tried swapping powers upplies and chips to no avail. Could be a bad cap.
zylon #20 Posted February 3, 2013 I'd keep the sears unit as they are easier to repair than jr's.
0078265317 #21 Posted February 3, 2013 can I post images in this thread without a url?

0078265317 #24 Posted February 3, 2013 Ok, never mind. I just created a new blog and added some photos. But still would be nice to add photos directly here. Anyhow here you go. http://mvvg.blogspot.com/
Unbeliever #25 Posted February 3, 2013 I would personally keep the Sears. I love my 4 switch and would prefer it over a Junior, but that's coming from a nostalgic point of view.
