Stan #27 Posted February 3, 2013 What about the jr do you like. Compact. The sensitivity of the buttons can go with time, but I've had mine for awhile. Love the look of it too, it's beautiful.
high voltage #28 Posted February 3, 2013 The Sears unit is probably way more sturdy and better shielded. The jr.s came out near the end of the 2600s run, when Jack T. was making them most cheaply. However, some people love the small size of the jr. and the wedge design.Which one do you like better? The Jr came out under Atari Inc
0078265317 #29 Posted February 4, 2013 Ok, thanks for all the advice. Oh and also will my same universal ac adapter I use on the sears work on the jr? Same 500mah 9v + tip not minus? And also I just realized I don't have a video cable.
BigO #30 Posted February 4, 2013 (edited) Ok, thanks for all the advice. Oh and also will my same universal ac adapter I use on the sears work on the jr? Same 500mah 9v + tip not minus? And also I just realized I don't have a video cable. Same power supply will work. Any composite video cable will work. I've had a pile of Juniors and I think I have rid myself of all of them by now. The Jr's don't look like an "Atari". Being the age I am, I was there in the beginning so a 6 switch is the only "real" model to me. 0078265317 #31 Posted February 4, 2013 So it will hookup to rca jack on tv or back of vcr. Or I need a rca to coax adapter.
shadow460 #32 Posted February 4, 2013 You need the adapter. One thing I've considered about the Junior is that the parts in it are many years newer than those of a heavy sixer. They don't last forever. One day I may consider swapping some of the guts in m H6 with those of a Junior for that reason alone.

sqoon #37 Posted February 5, 2013 Although I recommend the Sears console for looks and relative rarity, the newer components argument does hold some validity. I may have to pick up a Jr some day just as an insurance policy.
0078265317 #38 Posted February 5, 2013 But even the jr is over 20 years old now. So all parts rust eventually.
SRGilbert #39 Posted February 6, 2013 If you just want one to play, you'll get more cash for the Sears.
littleman jack #40 Posted February 6, 2013 The Jr came out under Atari Inc Oops. Sorry for the incorrect info. I didn't realize it was no longer Jack's company at that point.
