Pixelboy #2 Posted February 5, 2013 Just check out the SG-1000 version of Elevator Action on YouTube and you'll know exactly what to expect.
VectorGamer #3 Posted February 5, 2013 It sucks
InfraMan #4 Posted February 5, 2013 It's much harder than the arcade version, which means you have to play it differently... you'll definitely spend a lot more time dodging enemy fire than you would in the original. The CV version is more "run-and-gun" than "sneaky stealth," I guess Personally, I really like the change, since it feels more like a remixed version of Elevator Action, but you may be disappointed if you're looking for an arcade-perfect conversion. If that doesn't bother you, then I think it's well worth picking up.

NIAD #6 Posted February 6, 2013 Just check out the SG-1000 version of Elevator Action on YouTube and you'll know exactly what to expect. Or download the SG-1000 rom file and play it thru Meka or one of the other emulators that support the SG-1000. It is a direct port with no changes, that I know of, so this will give you a very good idea as to whether you want to buy the ColecoVision CIB version from CollectorVision. atari5200dude82 #7 Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks for the input guys. I will check it out. I used to have the Atari 2600 one. it was pretty cool, but it wasn't complete or have sound. I like the concept of the game.
SoulBlazer #8 Posted February 6, 2013 I thought the NES port was a pretty good one, personaly.
ozma wars #9 Posted February 7, 2013 so, why not a Sega sg-1000 adapter ? sg-1000 carts are easy to find.
NIAD #10 Posted February 7, 2013 so, why not a Sega sg-1000 adapter ? sg-1000 carts are easy to find. Developing a Sega SG-1000 Expansion Module for the CV and then mass producing it would end up being a lot more expensive endeavor than just porting the games that are worthwhile to CV format. Seeing that Opcode is selling his SGM for $90, I would assume that an SG-1000 Adapter would retail for at least that much and probably more... then we would still have to track down and purchase the SG-1000 games (in CIB format for most of us). In the end, I prefer to buy CV versions of these games that are done up to the 9's as they have been with beautiful boxes, manuals and labels that are CV specific. I just appreciate them that much more being a CV release... the SG-1000 carts just wouldn't hold that type of value for me. One other aside, there just aren't enough good SG-1000 games left to make a SG-1000 adapter a viable option. The best games have already been ported.
Pixelboy #11 Posted February 8, 2013 One other aside, there just aren't enough good SG-1000 games left to make a SG-1000 adapter a viable option. The best games have already been ported. Indeed. The only ones I'm seing that are somewhat worth porting (and this is debatable) are Star Jacker, Flicky, The Castle, and C-So. Of course, I'm leaving out The Black Onyx because I'm going to actually release the port next year. Another game that I'm somewhat impressed with is Ayako.Okamoto's Match Play Golf, which was apparently released on the Othello Multivision. I'm no golf fan by any stretch of the imagination, but with a few minor modifications to the graphics and the controls, that one could be released as Super Action Golf on the ColecoVision. See below.
Manoau2002 #12 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) It reminds me a lot of Golf for the NES. I used to play that game for hours on end. Continuing the series of "Super Action" sports games would be cool. Have any "Super Action" homebrew games been released for the Colecovision? (Other than the version of soccer you released a couple month's ago) Edited February 8, 2013 by Manoau2002

CollectorVision had plans for a Super Action Racing game, but I don't think any progress has ever been done on it beyond the initial mockups.
NIAD #14 Posted February 8, 2013 I think a golf game for the CV would be a good idea and Match Play Golf looks like it would be a good candidate to port and give it that "Super Action" treatment. Even though I'm not a golfer, I have always had a sweet spot for golf videogames for some reason. HardHat has mentioned that he is working on a bowling game to be titles Super Action Bowling, but no further news on it's development. As far as other sports titles, there is one in the works that I think a lot of people will be excited to see released for the CV... probably later this year. I also thought that a MegaCart compilation of MSX sports titles released by Konami (Baseball, Football, Soccer, Basketball, Bowling, Golf, etc,) would be a great idea and it could be called "Super Action Sports" especially since so many Konami games have already made an appearance on the CV and it seems Opcode has an affinity toward Konami games. NIAD #15 Posted February 8, 2013 Konami Golf video for the heck of it. Match Play Golf looks like a better candidate even though I hate how the screen refreshes... reminds me of Basic programs redrawing the screen.
youki #16 Posted February 8, 2013 They are more interresting game on SG1000 that you could expect. but lot of are corean or Japenese only. In addtion on SG1000 it exists a RAM expansion module , similar to what the SGM is for the colecovision... and strangly..... there are lot of msx port that works on SG1000... for instance on SG1000 you have also : Bomberman Special The Castle Knightmare The Legend of Kage Magical Kid Wiz Rally-X Road Fighter Tank Battalion TwinBee Yie Ar Kung-Fu II
ozma wars #17 Posted February 8, 2013 CHAMPION TENNIS HUSTLE CHUMY PACAR POP FLAMER SAFARI HUNTING SAFARI RACE all these SG games are worth a port.

atari5200dude82 #19 Posted February 11, 2013 I think a auto racing game will be awesome on the colecovision. Especailly using the expansion module #2. Would be very cool.
