I like the music better than the game..(and for some reason this song reminds me of Iron Maiden LOL)....

This band called The Advantage does a really good cover of the Metal Gear jungle theme as well as Marble Madness and Castlevania...

Gotta play that one loud :) ...the drums own on that one...

The Rocketeer by Bandai - The game is nothing special, but the level music here is rather rockin'. Dave Warhol's NES stuff has a cool sound.

Air Fortress by HAL Labs - As short as this track is, it's a unique melody that sets an effective mood.

8 Eyes by Thinking Rabbit - The soundtrack to 8 Eyes is kind of odd compared to most on NES. It's pretty huge, first of all, and it's also weird for an NES game originally released in '88 to feature zero percussion. I wonder if that was a compositional choice or if Thinking Rabbit just didn't feel like writing a more sophisticated sound driver. I'd recommend skipping to 4:30 to hear one of the better tunes from the game, but this entire soundtrack is pretty neat and really well composed.

Quarth by Konami - This gameplay footage is the best Youtube showcase I could find of the music, the first of the main game themes is especially good.

I didn't even realize this game was on NES. It's my absolute favorite original Game Boy title, and I love the music on that version.

Some of my faves for the NES:

RC Pro Am title theme

Pro Wrestling in-game music (repetitive but very memorable for me)

Training theme from Tyson's Punch Out

Super Mario 2 -- love all the music in this game so much better than the "real" Mario theme, which I can't stand.

Ohh man I think some of mine would be:

Super Mario Bros 2 Regular stage music.

Super Mario Bros 3 World 1-2.

Mega Man 2 & 3 various stages that I can't think of off the top of my head.

All 6 NES Megamans had excellent soundtracks, many of the tunes with fairly long loops (~2 min.) by NES standards.

Also, the Japanese version of Castlevania III (with VRC6 expansion audio) is some of the best commercial Famicom/NES chiptune music, ever...
