INTV II ECS Power supply alternitives.

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I cannot find my INTV II ECS power supply I know Mattel liked to use off the wall power supplies with strange voltage and amperage I think the ECS used a 10vac 1amp wall mole. Does anyone know of an alternitive power supply that can be used? Also does anyone know polarity of the input connector (outer negitive inside positive ect ect).

Thanks!

An NES one works. Similarly, a power supply from something like an Odyssey 2 should work as well.

The ECS Computer Adaptor can use power supplies which aren't an exact match for the original.

(EDIT: See the thread I linked to below for some alternative supplies that others have used.)

Awsome, I also need to find a better PS for the INTV II 2 the one I have has been patched as the wires were broken inside of the sheeth. 16v is a monster though!

Here is another thread about the ECS power supply, including some pictures that I posted of one of my own.

The supply I'm using for my Intellivision II is also third-party. I believe it's a 16VAC supply, rather than the original 16.7VAC, but I've noticed no negative effects after several years of use. This particular console was shipped by the previous owner with a frayed power supply from an old Compaq laptop, and it worked fine with that, too.

The NES power supply worked, my question now is that when I plug in a voice game I do not get any speach. I have toggled the voice volume up and down it is super scratch and I have worked it so that it is almost gone but the voice part of the ECS is not working.

Could the volume POT be bad?

Unfortunately, the ECS does not include the Intellivoice functionality. You'll still need the Intellivoice module for speech.

I am glad to hear mixing and matching power supplies has not hurt anyone here. I don't claim to be an expert on the matter (far from it). I recently misplaced my original power supply for my intv ii and was distraught to find they are a bit expensive and tough to find by themselves. I was more distraught when I kept reading grave warnings about not using anything except the original.. slight differences were said to cause overheating and other issues which may result in console death. I know you can't believe all you read, but I am always over cautious when it comes to my gaming equipment.

Hmmm interesting, what does the POT on the ECS do?

The ECS adds another three voices of sound to the Intellivision (via the extra PSG chip in the Computer Adaptor). The pot adjusts the volume of these extra voices.
