Trapped In the Number Room in Adventure?

Well THIS has never happened to me before!

I was playing Adventure using the 2600emu app on my Android and I was using the bridge to retrieve the chalice from the wrong side of a wall....I attempt to cross back thru the bridge and end up in a number room marked "2" (even though I was playing on game 3) and there was NO way out!!

Is this some glitch in the emulator or the rom I have or is this some fluke that had never happened to me before playing the game?

I am scratching my head.

Looks like Adventure made you into a prisoner....."the new number two" to be exact!!!

I have only vague memories of getting trapped. I think it involved the bat taking something and the top-middle part of a castle.

The game switching to a different variation (backwards!) makes me suspect that either the rom or the emulator has some issue. This is impossible in the original program when it's emulated correctly.

 

If any room links to room zero (the game select screen), there will be no way out. Room zero links to itself in all 4 directions. But if it were just a bad link which put you there, the variation number should have been the same one you were using.

I am trying to think back but I may have got trapped once while getting the secret dot to enter the Warren Robinett secret room on game 3,i entered the secret area using the bridge and the bat came on screen and swapped an item for the magnet and pulled the bridge away,it was something like that anyway i am slightly unsure as it happened back in the day.

If you start a game first, then press Select, the push down on the controller, that will put you into the Game Select room and there is no way out. This is an old trick that lots of us knew.

 

However I never heard of it happening while just playing a game nor it going back "1". Did your toe maybe accidentally hit the select switch?

I think i figured out what happened. I was playing using an emulator on my Android phone. The select and reset buttons were positioned below the joypad. I bet I accidentally hit it. I have since moved those switches to the TOP of the screen where they belong to avoid such happenings.
