VCS JR (short rainbow) are different sizes?

Recommended Posts

I never knew that, is there some reason behind this? Maybe the bigger sized is from Atari Inc. and the shorter version from Atari Corp?

Anyone's got any ideas about this?

That shorter system probably comes with the VCS-on-a-chip circuitry inside! :-o I can see the white cartridge slot in there. Can you open it and take photos from its innards?

I think it's an optical illusion. The slightly different angles the systems are displayed at kind of play tricks on your eyes.

Besides, it doesn't make sense that Atari Corp., known for cost-cutting when it came to game systems, would manufacture an entirely new case that was only barely-different-yet-different-enough from the old one it was already producing in healthy (and cheap) quantities. What's interesting here is the possibility of an AOC console.

If it is currently on eBay, you might be able to get the seller to post more pictures. The underside label might be interesting.
