Will that be in cash or bacon sir?

Bacon jerky.....

I actually think some people will not be happy when you start releasing your games. Seriously. I'll keep my reasons to myself.

DONT let Groovybees lies continue.

He is just covering for me.

Its taken the past year to get the cover art done for the game.

But it is finally finished today, as soon as I came home from work.

The Rocketeer cover art.

I know exactly what you mean. All we'll have left are pre-release threads in which people post "I want one!" and don't talk about bacon.

 I really don't need any protectors. I was just short on time when I dropped into AA earlier today, so answered PMs and skimmed a few threads.

The game will be released this year. When? Thats difficult to say precisely :(. The Bee3 needs quite a bit more testing to make sure it acts just like a normal cart. Which means playing a bunch of legacy games on it, as well as my own games and running automated test suites all while its hooked up to the logic analyser. All the testing is to make sure its rock solid and behaves exactly as it should in a variety of machines. I really don't want any hardware related issues when the first game is ready to go, because Rocketeer and Mars Minis will both be shipped on Bee3s. Unfortunately the kind of exhaustive testing I want to perform takes time, which is in short supply at the moment. As soon as Bee3 hardware testing is complete I'll be the happiest man in the the Inty forum.

I'm also extremely disappointed that the game hasn't come out sooner. Theres easily well over 500 hours of work gone into it so far (not including artist and musician time). You might say its a simple arcade game but there are 17 moving objects on screen, along with AI, logic, collision detection and sound effects. With everything active in the game, the frame rate never drops below 60 FPS. On the Inty, I think that is pretty good ;). Thats also one of the things I love about coding video games on old consoles. What looks simple on the outside might actually be quite complex on the inside and be burning a whole bunch of CPU cycles and performing neat programmer tricks to which the game player is completely oblivious - and thats exactly how it should be :D.

Hopefully, I'll be back to making weekly updates on game progress after this week. Don't worry, there is an end goal in sight, its just been way too slow getting there and I'm extremely grateful for people's support and patience along the way.

As I said earlier in the thread, if anybody wants a refund all they need to do is ask.

Rocketeer and mars minis are the only two games scheduled for 2014? Or will you surprise us?!

;-)

Time to pull this thread out of oblivion.

Taken from page 1:

- A better title page - done.
- Attract sequence (title/high scores/credits) - done.
- Add more frames of player animation - done.
- Add player/baddie collision detect and get the player lives/death system working - done.
- Add falling fuel pods and their collection - done.
- Add falling bonus items and their collection.
- Add rocket take off animation - done.
- Add rocket landing animation - done.
- Add more baddie graphics - done.
- Add more baddies attack/movement patterns.
- Add more rockets - done.
- Get the score and high score system working - done.
- Add sound effects - ongoing
- Add title page music music tracker in and working.
- Add difficulty levels - still thinking about that one e.g. laser overheating.
- Randomise the placement of rocket parts - done.
- 5 name and their high scores display - done.
- Intermission screen after rocket launch - done.
- Fix a few bugs - ongoing ;).

Fixing a few bugs an a bit of music should be done now?

If you can't get your own circuit design running I'm pleased to take your games as rom versions. :)

I think the list has gotten longer. Two items that I can recall are:

- Add a fancy game intro sequence - done

- FMV "new ship" animation - ongoing.

GroovyBee game us a pretty good update on July 9th. Sounds like he is concentrating on getting his "Bee3" hardware completely debugged and tested.

.

I am sure he will let us know when the hardware testing is complete....

Nope! That honour has already gone to DZ-Jay's "Christmas Carol vs. The Ghost of Christmas Presents" :P.

Yeah, that was a bit shortsighted, perhaps. The title implies that no other game will ever de-throne it, so, yay!

dZ.
