ST Joypads

Are all ST joypad one button? I've been using a Sega Master System controller on my ST computers for years. But was wondering if Im missing something. I assume all ST games are just one action button not two? Also all the joystik/game pads i've seen marketed for ST are one button.

Yes, they are all 1 button - unless you get a stick for the STe enhanced joystick ports, but I am not sure which STe games use them.

Hardware wise the main joystick port can only read one button. The left (mouse) port can read the second button however, I think Streetfighter 2 uses this 'feature'.

Was there a 2 button joystick then, there must have been?

 

Edit: most had 2 buttons (Cruiser, ZipStick etc), but both mapped to the same button. Infact, the Cruiser had one microswitch inside connected to both buttons.
