Joystick Topper?

I saw an ebay auction for 4 wico command and 2 5200 joysticks. Anyhow all is good except the 5200 joysticks.

 

 

What are those on top of the sticks. Never seen anything like that before. At least not for 5200.

Certainly is different, looks like authentic from the era of Red Wicos and Arcade Ball sticks. My guess is a 3rd party add on to the 5200 controller as in the Pacman diamond plate.

i remember a type of ball topper for 2600 that was called "the grabber" but i dont remember red ones i wonder if they are a ball with a hole and a rubber insert to make a tight fit

ya I know 2600 had some but I don't remember seeing any for 5200.
