xDragonWarrior #1 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) So i just got a another Gameboy yesterday for $4 with Tetris(this is my 2nd one) and was wondering how much you pay for repeat consoles/handhelds.The repeats I currently have: 3 Playstations:2 redesigns and 1 original all free 4 genesis:1 model 1 $3,and 2 model 2's 1 $6 with 32X and $2 2 Dreamcast: $1 and $5 2 Xbox's: both $3 2 Gameboy's $5 and $4 with Tetris 2 Gameboy pocket's both $1 4 Gameboy Color's $10,$8 with Wario land 3,$2 and $1(LE) Pokemon Gold/Silver with madden 2001 3 Gamegear's 1 free,$6 with Sonic Chaos, and $1 Most I got because it was too good of a deal to pass up even though I had the console. For me it depends on the console. If it's a rare/in demand console like the Turbografx-16,Virtual boy,or Saturn,I will happily pay $10-15 bucks on another but if it's like a PlayStation(or another console/handheld not in demand),the most i will pay is $3(more if it comes with games/a game). For consoles like the Nes,SNES,Atari 2600,etc I will also pay around $10 bucks or so for another and if it comes with games i will surely get another. So what do you do when you see a console you already have for real cheap, and i don't mean $10 cheap,i mean dirt cheap($3-5 bucks)? shadow460 #2 Posted March 10, 2013 When I see 'em cheap, I buy them, fix whatever needs fixed, and flip them.
AtariLeaf #3 Posted March 10, 2013 Usually I like to keep only originals for systems like Genesis - I only kept my Model 1's for example. When it comes to my favorite platforms, I'll usually pick up anything Atari at a good price, same with the Tandy Coco which I'm willing to spend even more on even though I have multiples of each model. These things are getting older and bits like the Coco's GIME chip are hard to come by so I'll grab as many backups as I can.
Taskmaster99 #4 Posted March 10, 2013 If I have it and find another for cheap.....i grab it. Never know when you're gonna need a back up. Especially CD based systems. I think with the exception of the current gen....I have at least 1 back up for all my systems. Clones included...lol.
oldjd #5 Posted March 10, 2013 Real cheap,is mostly a dream. It seems that most people think they are selling gold or at least plutonium. I was in a resale shop about 3 weeks ago,and they had a Sega Genesis.I was looking at it and the "clerk" came over and said that I was looking at a very desirable video system! Whats more, she was going to mark it at a lower price, just for me. Oh,and no power pack,a/v cables or games, plus the bonus of it looking like it had been in a Frisbee contest. But since I was so special,I could get it for 30 bucks And because I was so impressed by it,I of course asked ,"does it work"? "Yes,her sons had played it and it was very nice" WTF? This is fairly typical of what I find But,if I were to find a "cheap" one,I certainly would be all over it.Maybe a nice "working" Coleco for 5 bucks

shadow460 #7 Posted March 11, 2013 (edited) This is why I'm glad to be able to repair consoles. I can find that $1 dirty as heck, been thrown around and abused, not working at all Game Boy Advance SP, fix it, and flip it for a cool $20. Heck I've got a 2600 listed right now that I paid $5 for. I repaired it and now they're fighting over it on ebay. With me fixing consoles, soon the world will be full of 2600s and my wallet will be full of money. fiddlepaddle #8 Posted March 11, 2013 Once I have two, the price I'm willing to pay goes WAY down. If I really need replacement parts (or a backup), I know I can get one on ebay. After ten, even free doesn't do it (except I'd probably take more than ten Vectrecies, just because). And if they're small, like a gameboy color, I might take more since they're so cute and come in multiple colors. I stopped collecting pinball machines after one because they take up too much room and are hard to move. Oh, and it also depends on my mood. And how poor I feel. And whether I have to work hard to get it at a good price. And how much cleaning/fixing I'll have to do. And whether I'll have to carry it for very long before I get back to my car. And whether the person I might be buying it from is being cool or an a**hole. And if it comes with games...well GOOD games. There are probably other variables I'm forgetting...
