iBook G3 Gemini Clamshell FS

Up for sale is a very, very rare Apple iBook G3 Gemini. There weren't many of these things made. They are essentially tablets, with a screen built into the top of a modified iBook shell/casing. These were made by Assistive Technologies and sold for nearly 7 grand. This is a rare model of the Geminis, as it features a 466mhz Power PC G3 processor. Most had either the slow 300 or 366mhz processors.

This has been upgraded with 576 MB of RAM, making it significantly faster than it's stock 64 MB configuration. It's currently running on OS 10.3.9. The touch screen does not work any longer, but can be controlled with keyboard and mouse, both of which are included with the sale (F12 key is missing). Sometimes you have to press on the screen to "release" the mouse, other times you don't have to. All you have to do is find the touch screen driver and delete it, and it'll always act as a regular monitor, but I'm not sure how to do this.

These 466mhz iBooks are worth hundreds of dollars, and this Gemini model is worth even more than that. But I'm selling it for cheap due to the touch screen. Everything else is fully functional and works great. OSX works wonderfully and the DVD drive works perfectly. No airport wifi card included, but can be installed. Comes with built in stand, so you can use it like an all-in-one desktop computer.

Sold as is. $75 OBO.

Sorry I am too poor and to broke (not to mention in Canada) but I think that model is really cool! I was not even aware of this version, shame the touchscreen is not working, if I was technically inclined I would think it a good deal and challenge to fix. I admit the iBooks from this era are about the only models that intrigued me prior to the ones that all while admittedly sleek, all seem sterile and samey.

I found some interesting info here:

Sure, I know many people considered these either gaudy or "fisher price" looking (especially the bright color models) but to me this was the era when they really stood out, when the "Think Different" marketing blitz actually seemed to mean something. Anyway, good luck on your sale.
