2600 Jr. controller port issues w M-Network Titles?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm having controller issues w/ some M Network titles on the Jr.

Dark Cavern, Trons adventure, Trons Deadly Discs, and Kool aid Man.

They all go up but cannot go in any other direction..All my other games work great, so I know it's not the controller port.

Also, those titles work great on my 7800, heavy 6er, light 6er, etc...

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks all..

The Jr and/or controller might have dirty connector pins? Pick up a can of contact cleaner at Radio Shack. Spray the controller plug and port, then quickly work the plug several times before the cleaner dries to remove debris. I had a Sega Genesis 3-button controller that one of the d-pad buttons didn't work on my Atari, but the Genny controller worked on the Genny and my stock VCS controllers worked perfectly on the VCS. Contact cleaner fixed the issue and my Genny controller now works as expected.

Nice advice, but all my other games work great..The port has been cleaned, and I've tried numerous different controllers/joysticks, but same results.

It could'nt be the port if all my other games work great, would it?

I had a similar problem when I got my heavy sixer. It turned out that some of the solder joints on the motherboard had failed. I repaired them. I think you've got some kind of connection problem.

It's possible that the cartridge boards are loose in your games, too, and the Jr is the only one with a tight enough slot to push the boards around. The boards can be glued or epoxied into place within the cartridge shells.
