[d2f]Iggy*SJB #1 Posted March 20, 2013 As seen in a previous thread, I received my 5200 Trackball controller in the mail today. It's a little dirty, but nothing that a little time and rubbing alcohol shouldn't cure. I haven't had a chance to test it yet, as I lost the remote to the TV my 5200 is plugged into. Before I open her up and "get to it", does anyone have any advice for me? Anything I should look out for or be extra carefull of? Thanks in advance! I already mentioned some things to watch for in the 5200 Tempest Thread. Also wrote an article with pics. 5200 Trakball Maintenance http://www.racketboy...=726298#p726298 Please post a picture of your Trakball when you get it disassembled and before cleaning it. I suspect you will find a lot of buildup on the brass rollers. Edited March 21, 2013 by CRTGAMER

I suggest looking under the sofa and between the cushons. It's also possible the dog took it to his cage or (hope not) burried it somewhere. It's also worth noting that if you have a TV that includes a remote control (and it's not the wired type), you are probably not using a TV from the right era; authentic mechanical switch/tube-based TVs are really the only way to go with old Atari consoles. If your TV REQUIRES a remote control, then your TV definitely is too modern. Once you do find your remote, I suggest you duct-tape it to the coffee table. I use a WEGA HD CRT which displays the 5200 just fine with its original direct RF signal. I would love to do the SVideo mod on it, but the four switch single cable lead is a novelty. bohoki #5 Posted March 21, 2013 i got a tv for free cause the person lost the remote after leaving it on 16:9 mode it was annoying having everybody looking squashed i got the code for the tv on a one for all remote but there was no pic size button so some one ofa remotes allow you to do a button search every remote code has 256 sub codes for various features (i used a cheap directv blue remote) the setup or magic button is like the alt button on a keyboard so you tap setup then press 001,002,003,004... i found the pic size button somewhere in the 090s i also ran into a couple odd test modes too but i had to power off to get out of them what do you need to do with a remote you cant do on the front panel
