eBay's Pinterest Style Pinboard Homepage. Like or Dislike?

Recommended Posts

Are you guys all seeing this new style on eBay's homepage? If so, care to let me know if that is something you like or dislike? I was considering incorporating that into GameGavel as well, then giving the viewer the choice to change the default pinboard listings from "recently listed" to "ending soon, highest priced, lowest priced, closest, etc

Side note, we are also going to have "saved" searches finally available soon. This is probably the most asked for feature. Better late than never. Next we are improving the category search drill down as well. Improvements and a facelift coming!

It is a good way to show lots of product! And if users can change what is showing (featured, watching, saved search, last searched, highest priced, lowest priced, recently listed, ending soonest) that would be cool. We would still have to have a "featured" listings area as we do have quite a few folks paying to feature on the homepage. Maybe at the top or it could be made a seperate search option for the pinboard. I think people would click on featured alot to see what people are promoting.

We are also going to have a "trending auctions" box that will show the most watched items.

My two biggest GG complaints:

No email notifications that watched or losing auctions are ending. I just forget and I need that tickler to tell me to go back and look 4-6 hours before auction end.

Difficult to search categories in their entirety- like if I search 'Other' it gives me one result and 'Other-Channel F' it gives another. 'Other' should include all the subcategories. Those may not be exact categories, but just giving an example.

Sorry that this is OT.

I'm not a fan of the new eBay frontpage. Maybe if a company that was good at knowing your preferences like Amazon developed it I would find it useful. Too many items for searches I may have done once or twice rather than what I look at the most often.

Thanks Ian,

Both of those things should be addressed in the upcoming upgrade. Sholdn't be too much longer :)
