krae_man
Does anyone here know anything about the Palmtex Super Micro or happen to own one? I noticed this auction on eBay and decided to put the minimum bid in and was surprised when I won it. I didn't think something so extremly rare would go for so little, even if it does have a couple issues. With something this rare, it's kind of hard to be picky. Now this listing has a non functioning light box and the battery cover is missing. In my research I found about 6 ebay listings for the system with a bunch selling for around $400 and a couple selling for $800. They all seemed to have different levels of completeness. With the light box, without the light box. All 3 games, not all 3 games. All of the packaging, not all of the packaging. All the instructions, not all the instructions etc. I also saw message board posts referencing a listing selling for $1100, and one selling for $100. Anyway, in my googling I came across the following two auctions: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fitm%2FUltra-Rare-Palmtex-SuperMicro-1st-Handheld-Game-System-Exc-Cond-1983-%2F251234827864 http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F2-Ultra-Rare-Palmtex-Super-Micro-1st-Handheld-Game-Systems-Great-Condition-%2F251195053666 The system I bought is in both of these listings. It's one thing for an auction to fall through the cracks once, but multiple times? I'm starting to think there's a reason nobody bid on it. Of all the listings I found, I didn't see one with a working light box so that a plus. I don't care about the battery cover being missing so I'm not worried about that. Now this system is labled PVS and I've only found 1 system labeled like that. The rest are all labled Super Micro with what looks like a sticker. Is that correct? All the systems had a Super Micro sticker over the PVS logo and Mine is just missing that? Anyone have any insight?
high voltage
Well nice win not much is known so far about these handhelds, except they are programmable, eg interchangeable games, and it's in colour (via overlays), years before the Lynx. A few years back one was sold on ebay UK in box with one extra game for gbp 45.00 Let us know when you receive it. krae_man
I did get it in the mail. It worked once without sound then stopped working entirely. I gave it to a friend to see if he can figure out what's wrong with it.
ianoid
It went cheap at least in part because it doesn't work perfectly. These are pretty obscure handhelds. I have one, but haven't tested it since my one cart is in storage. Would like more.
