PacManPlus #1 Posted March 30, 2013 Hi Guys: I've been working on this in between Bentley Issues. I'm almost ready to post a BIN, but I *need* to work on the tank movement. I was searching the net for a disassembly (or source code) for either the Vectrex or Arcade versions of this game (so I can look at how they moved the tanks) but came up empty. So I'm trying to write it myself. I may call it 'Armor Attack II' because of the following changes: - Score and Lives moved to the top of the screen instead of in-between levels (that always bugged me) - A set number of tanks need to be destroyed before a level is 'complete' (and that number grows as you advance) - Much later on in the levels, a 2nd helicopter comes out to harass you. - Mazes are randomly chosen at the beginning of a level (I still need to create these - I'm doing it by hand) If I decide to call it 'Armor Attack' anyway, I'll have a selection where you start with three tank enemies, there is no 'end of level' indicator, you only get the one maze, and only one helicopter. This is the 'ToDo' list before I post a bin: - Tweak tank movement so they don't stop moving and don't get 'stuck' in corners. - Tweak shots from tanks and copter - I think they are too infrequent now - Add more mazes For now, here are some screenshots: Coming soon. +Allan #4 Posted March 30, 2013 I may call it 'Armor Attack II' because of the following changes: - Score and Lives moved to the top of the screen instead of in-between levels (that always bugged me) - A set number of tanks need to be destroyed before a level is 'complete' (and that number grows as you advance) - Much later on in the levels, a 2nd helicopter comes out to harass you. - Mazes are randomly chosen at the beginning of a level (I still need to create these - I'm doing it by hand) That's because you're a far better game developer than the original person who wrote the arcade game and can't help but see the needed improvements. I would definatly call it Armour Attack 2 because it will be so much better than the orginal. Looking forward to this one. Love tank games. +Trebor #5 Posted March 30, 2013 This is awesome, Bob! Once again you never cease to amaze. It is looking and reading spectacular. So psyched for this game! Love, love, love the inclusion of the original maze layout and the "Combat" mazes... Makes it feel like we are getting two games in one (A sequel to both Armor Attack & another Combat (III)). The Combat mazes really will make this game extra challenging as the more open space requires real skill to avoid death. It's like the game already has a Standard version and a Pro version. Fantastic work!!!

+iesposta #11 Posted March 30, 2013 Yes yes yes. After Star Castle, this is my next favourite game. I always imagined driving around tall buildings. Any way to make it selectable "dirty rectangular city rooftops" or "rounded forest trees"? Any way it turns out, I need to own this! Much thanks. keitaro #20 Posted March 30, 2013 (edited) Awesome news! I forgot about this one. I like the enhancements planned. A possible idea for more variation levels: include different background colour schemes (yellow ones for 'desert scenario', black ones for another by 'night' (invisible walls) etc) Please count me for one when available, as usual, very good work!
