www.atarimania.com #1 Posted March 31, 2013 Not sure how many of you noticed most of the cracks floating around for James Bond 007 appear to be from an earlier build of the game. As Parker Brothers protos pop up from time to time, I was wondering whether anybody actually saw a physical cartridge of this version: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-james-bond-007_29219.html -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
Tempest #2 Posted March 31, 2013 I think I did see this cartridge. I know someone had a proto of James Bond, but I cant remember if it was for the 8-bit or C-64 now.
Scooter83 #3 Posted October 11, 2013 Im in the process of aquiring a cart of this title this weekend. So I hope to have it come end of this coming week. It isnt labled as a finished copy but a WIP 6. Should be interesting to see what differences there is from the final version. Also message me what oddities there are to the version that is floating around so I can be aware of that when testing this cart out. Thanks.

Tempest #5 Posted October 18, 2013 I don't have sound here at work and I'm really not familiar with James Bond. How different is the proto?
Scooter83 #6 Posted October 18, 2013 The two things that were on noticed was game selection under the player number. Then at the good luck screen the few button doesn't bypass it like in the final. I haven't played the whole game to see what other differences would be. Ill replay the video or replay the games and see how the music differs if at all. Tempest #7 Posted October 18, 2013 Ah so it has a stage select in it still. I'm guessing that this was pretty much the final version before they took out all the cheats and signed off on it.
Scooter83 #8 Posted October 18, 2013 Not sure but possible. Probably had a few tweaks left before finalizing.
Kr0tki #9 Posted November 10, 2013 Attached below is a ROM image of the James Bond WIP 6 prototype, extracted from the DOS crack that's hosted at Atarimania. The final verion of James Bond does not seem to contain any copy protection that would need cracking, so the WIP 6 prototype probably doesn't contain it either. Therefore it is somewhat possible that my ROM image is not cracked and will turn out to be identical to the contents of Scooter83's prototype, but of course any verification would be appreciated.
