Cybergoth #1 Posted February 17, 2003 Hi there! With all of todays prototype talk, I just have to ask what info is available about ports of TAITOs "Wild Western" arcade from Coleco. I found flyers like this: for the 2600, Intellivision & Coleco version and they all are based around screenshots that are coming close to each systems abilities. All vaporware, or real stuff, what do you think? Greetings, Manuel
Thomas Jentzsch #2 Posted February 17, 2003 Hm, the screenshot mainly shows a reflected playfield, but there are two mirroring bugs. And way too many abjects (and colors!). Vaporware I'd guess.

NE146 #4 Posted February 17, 2003 Whoah! I never knew this game was planned! It was another of those old arcade games we used to play at the old Mom n' Pop store. But even if it was made, I wonder how the controls could translate to the 2600 due to the rotary control and button aspect (heck it's even hard to play the game correctly in MAME.. just try jumping on the train!) But still, that's a great looking flyer! Thanks for showing it
Cassidy Nolen #5 Posted February 17, 2003 I remember the real game from my childhood. I loved the arcade so much, I bought one a few years back. Money (and space) have gotten tight, and I just sold it, but its still a favorite. The DPG has it in the vaporware section, and that game is THE reason I bought the Magicard. I thought maybe I could poke around at making the train go on the screen. It would be my dream to write that game. The screenshot in the ad is about 10 times better than I ever thought it could be done, so that is not a possibility at all. Oh well, its a year later. I am in the process of reading everything I can about programming for the 2600, and not having a computer background makes it ALMOST impossible to think that could ever come true for me. Oh well. Neat ad, though Cassidy
Cybergoth #6 Posted February 17, 2003 Hi there! It would be my dream to write that game. So, just give it a try. I'm sure a lot of people (including me ) would appreciate & support such a cool project attempt. You could start with buying 1 or 2 6502 assembly programming books (like for the C64, Apple 2 or XL/XE machines) and then play with the old "How to draw a playfield" example. Just try making it look like in the screenshot above. You'll see it's not that complicated and maybe even... uhm... fun Greetings, Manuel
Thomas Jentzsch #7 Posted February 17, 2003 ...that game is THE reason I bought the Magicard. I thought maybe I could poke around at making the train go on the screen. I also own a Magicard (its a present), but I haven't even bothered to program there. Its even more restricted than the 2600. I would suggest learning Assembler and then start with "How To Draw A Playfield".
