I know this is not for coleco but I was thinking of making a similar box

Recommended Posts

I know this is not for coleco but I was thinking of making a similar box for a coleco game as well. Just wondering what people thought of this style of box for a coleco game.

And wiether I should create new artwork or use the original look.

Thanks

the reason is I recently purchased some intelivision games & a system and was very impressed with how well the boxes, inserts & manuals have held up compared to coleco boxes . Its not very scientific sample size but having purchased lots from both systems multiple times. The intellivision, labels, manuals and overlays are usually in better shape & the boxes too.

Because of the central support cart hole & double layer book style opening cover they are more crush resistant & the contents don't move around.

It looks nice, but why use the Intellivision template for a Coleco game? :?

Yup. That's why I wanted to test the waters over this way. Seems kinda silly to me. It's just a box, I just got sick of stacking the cartridges into towers that will eventually crash down.

I checked out the link over in the Inty forums. I never go over there. Man, have you got some nay-sayers about repro boxes! Yeesh! :lolblue:

Update.

I have attached a revised box. It now states on the back that it is a reproduction. I also made a few minor tweaks.

Also pictured is my "Special" Left hand version which opens the reverse for any ned flanders people out there. It's also made of a special micro corrugate so it's so strong I think I cold run it over with my car and it would survive.

At least one thin ice cartridge will survive for the next 30-40 years.

Is it really for color TV viewing only? What happens when you try to watch it on a b/w TV?

Does my english is that bad?

Cause I really don't understand

I mean, seriously! :(

That's what the Intellivision boxes used to say, implying how high tech the system was. :)

Yeah, they don't sell black & white televsions anymore. But I played quite a few games on b&w TV's . I think it was just fine. Plus it made you really appreciate it when you could hook it up to the main colour tv in the living room for a few hours.
