shadow460 #26 Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) It doesn't help that someone was bulk eBay selling copies of the recalled version (hundreds of them) for real cheap... so they got back out on the market. They should have been stamped in some way. I understand collecting, but that crap ends up unbeknownst, trying to be played. The fixed versions were marked with the stickers and different color ink on the discs. If you see 'em side by side, you'll know instantly which is which. Not all of the old ones are bad, just ones from a certain production run. They won't damage the console, they'll just lock up at some point. My blue Hydro Thunder looks like it has CD bronzing on part of the disc, and it does lock up when playing. oh, wow, I just looked at it and the whole thing is bronzed. The orange disc is fine. My blue copy is disc only, so I need to find a box and docs for it. Edited April 4, 2013 by shadow460
icemanxp300 #27 Posted April 4, 2013 If you want pm me I have a console only for $10 plus shipping. I can toss a controller in for an extra $5. As far as isos. I have a card reader as well and basically my set-up runs off dreamshell. Its a program you burn to the cd and you plug the card reader in the back. It acts like an emulator such as on the pc. I have zsnes I believe it is and can play any snes game that way. As far as other stuff goes. I just burn complete libraries to cd's. I have an nes cd, neo geo cd, atari cd, and so on. Full libraries of playable roms w/emulators. The main purpose of the card reader is so you save cd's. You just copy and paste whatever you want on the card through a card reader and then plug into the special dreamcast card reader and done. You can delete what you don't like and add what you do. Austin #28 Posted April 4, 2013 I have zsnes I believe it is and can play any snes game that way. I thought SNES emulation on the Dreamcast was kind of.. crappy? Or is it actually worthwhile these days?
icemanxp300 #29 Posted April 4, 2013 Well it all depends on the emulator I think. This zsnes was redesigned to work good on the dreamcast. I only tried a mario world hack but it seemed to play great through the dreamshell.
jmetal88 #30 Posted April 4, 2013 If you're getting launch titles like Ready To Rumble Boxing and Hydro Thunder, bear in mind that some of the initial presses were bad. Hydro Thunder comes blue or orange ink on the disc. The badly pressed discs all have blue ink. Their boxes will lack the "Hot! New!" sticker. Hmm, I think my Hydro Thunder might be one of the bad copies. I'm pretty sure it's labeled with blue ink, and while it does play, sometimes I have to restart the Dreamcast several times before it will boot.
