Colecovision CIB games surprise pickup today (pics)

Recommended Posts

Jim how much do you think a box one would go for? That was the first Super Sketch I have seen on ebay.

I had this discussion recently with two other members and feel pretty vindicated on the price that I thought would be justified for a CIB or NIB after this loose one came up on eBay. The $345 price for the loose one would be an above-average price, seeing as one hasn't turned up for public sale in about two years, and a bidding war insued.

I'm sorry to say that I am keeping my mouth shut on my opinion of this one until I have finalized a deal that I have been working on to acquire a NIB.

Any news on this?

Looks like the NIB and Shrinkwrapped Super Sketch that was on www.atari2600.com finally sold as well. That one was listed at $699.95, so whomever bought it ended up getting a deal.

I was gunna say who would pay 800 bucks when they can go there and get one for 700. well maybe the other bidder thought the same thing. Maybe this won't go any higher.

My box for SS is pretty banged up but I still couldn't believe I paid less than my Wiz Math for it. Now these two prices recently make me feel good about both prices. :)

NIAD, did you ever get that sealed SS you mentioned?

I ended up not buying that one because I couldn't justify the added expense of it being sealed especially since the first thing that I would do would be to open it. So hopefully it found a good home with a Sealed CIB collector. I did purchase one CIB from an AtariAge member for a much more reasonable price and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall condition.

I got my Super Sketch like new for 600 bucks, at start I thought it was a little expensive but then I thought that really there was no place to get it, so I bought it.

Now that I see how are things, well it was a great offer :)

$600!

Wow just wow!

I thought I paid too much when I got my boxed complete (at least I think it is...) version for like $150 (that was in 1999 tho...). People who know I collect old video games think I'm nuts for paying 30-40 for 'those old games'.

Nice. It's good to hear you found what you were looking for. I'm curious- was the sealed SS you were looking at the one on Atari2600.com? I'm just wondering how many sealed ones could possibly be out there. It doesn't seem likely there are many.

There actually were three Sealed copies of Super Sketch available within the last 6 months. The first two were available from a top-shelf seller of CV items here on AtariAge and the last one I mentioned previously was indeed the one from Atari2600.com that used to be in the collection of chuys450.

So there have been a considerable number of Super Sketch CIBs trading hands this year, but only one WizMath CIB that I know has become available and that was the just ended auction on eBay for $1083.

Not that I'm complaining, since I acquired a few incredible items, but how and why was such an impressive collection put up for sale on Atari2600.com? It's sad in a way to see someone parting with such a collection.

It was very sad to see such a longtime CV&ADAM collector have to sell off a large part of his collection, but sometimes in life difficult choices have to be made to do what is right and needed for one's family. I certainly hope that I never have to consider selling my current collection (I did it once and have regretted every since) and I hope that no one else has to face this difficult situation as well... but the inevitability of life will unfortunately rare it's ugly head again for someone.

There were a number of people, including myself, trying to work out deals to buy the collection that Atari2600.com eventually ended up with and what made it difficult was the extremely large shipping expense that would have to be tacted on to the sale as well as the owner having to pack everything up and ship. From what I heard, JC was able to drive over to the owners house and pick everything up and pay cash on the spot.... which ended up being a huge advantage.
