Atari White Boxes

Recommended Posts

I just stumbled across an eBay auction that included some Atari game boxes that were of the "White" variation, which I hadn't seen before.

What was the reason for or story behind this box style? I see the style is mentioned for a couple games on AtariAge, but there's no explanation about it.

Thanks.

Cool, I hadn't seen these paks before.

Searching for "Pak" on AtariAge brings up three. The description pages for the paks say that some of the white boxes also showed up loose at some electronic stores, too. (BTW, it seems that AtariAge only has white box scans for Dodge 'em and Othello. There's a Breakout white box on eBay that I saw. If someone has the other white boxes, it seems there's an opportunity to donate some box scans to AtariAge. (Also the Racing Pak outside box.))

Here's an Atari Pak summary:

Back to School Pak

-- Brain Games

-- Basic Programming

-- Pair of Keyboard Controllers

Racing Pak

-- Indy 500

-- Slot Racers

-- One(?) Racing Controller

Action Pak

-- Breakout

-- Dodge 'em

-- Othello ("Action"? :-)

So, that's interesting. Now I'm assuming those are not related to the grey boxed games. Wonder what the story is behind those...

only the manuals are missing :( ... I'm assuming pic labels on the carts so the white manual variants

I've seen this pak on ebay with both text labels & black manuals, pictured labels w/ white manuals
