Best replacement speaker for Sega Turbo

Recommended Posts

I have the cockpit version of Turbo. The sub underneath by the pedal works great but the one behind the seat has lost all of its surround material. What would be a proper replacement for this? I found these on ebay but not sure if it'll work.

I had an upright that was the same way. The sub had lost all its surround material. Woudl still be nice to know of a proper replacement for the future. Seems to be an issue with these and amazes me as I expect that on a radio from 1929-30, not a game from the 80s!

Yeah but not really that uncommon tho. Many 80's speakers fell to this issue. I had a pair of Bang & Olufsen Penta II's that had this problem, They were from 86 to 90's. Alot of other speakers from the 80's have that problem. It's just the kind of material used. Apparently, if you go with the same material they used, you have to change them roughly every 10 years or so. At leastthats what i read somewhere online.

I've heard that myself about the material from one of my radio collector friends. It's the reason why he is so hesitant to have some of the speakers in his antique radios re-coned. Probably can have the speaker in the Turbos reconed, but at what they charge for it I'd think they should use something longer lasting.

Are you really sure that it is a sub-woofer and not just a regular speaker.

If you want to keep it original, you could just replace the surround.

I replaced a rubber surround on a paradigm speaker and it was fairly easy.

There are all kinds of tutorials on the web for that kind of stuff.

Supposed to be subs. Theres one just over the area where the gas pedal is and the theres the one in the back behind the seat. Used to give lows and rumble. The regular speakers are higher up by the plexi.
