Vic George 2K3 #27 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) I would NEVER consider games for ONLY UP TO TWO PLAYERS AT A TIME to be "multiplayer" at all. That's just kissing up to the current generation of gamers who can only understand the concept from being in online multiplayer matches with people, probably because they don't even remember having somebody else in the same living room playing the same game from the same game console unit. The Wiiviewer made this stupid mistake of calling Sonic The Hedgehog 2 a "multiplayer game" when it ONLY ALLOWS UP TO TWO PLAYERS to play simultaneously. Multiple is more than one so multiplayer is MORE THAN ONE which means that Sonic 2 IS a multiplayer game(by definition).Pong can support up to two players at a time so would you call that singleplayer? Also Goldeneye(N64) Perfect Dark(N64) Mario kart double dash(GC) Pong Hyper Street Fighter 2(because street fighter 2 is for losers) Marvel vs Capcom 2 Halo 2(Xbox) Streets of Rage(all) Edited May 30, 2013 by xDragonWarrior
Ska_music_fan83 #29 Posted May 30, 2013 Hmm. Have you tried cleaning the Sega's contacts? I cover an old gift card with a cut up t shirt in rubbing alcohol and scrub the cart slots contacts and clean the 32X's bottom connector with rubbing alcohol and a qtip. I love my 7800 and Gamecube too! I'm on a big NES and Turbografx kick lately, but I go in cycles. Thanks for the info, I'll have to give that a try and see it if helps... I never had a Turbografx 16, but it looks like it has some pretty awesome games! I remember playing "Air Zonk" at a Meijer store when I was really little and being blown away! Your statement about Sonic the Hedgehog 2 doesn't make any sense. If more than one player can play the game, then it's multiplayer. However, I do agree with you about online multiplayer, which is a competely different animal from local multiplayer because although it's against other people, the social aspect of being in the same room with your friend(s) is gone. Punisher5.0 #31 Posted May 31, 2013 Halo is 16 player lan with 4 players per console with a max of 4 networked systems. We used to have friends over every weekend for 8 on 8 team matches. We played Blood Gulch and Sidewinder maps the most. We used to do the same exact setup at a friends house. Blood Gulch and Sidewinder are excellent multiplayer maps. Halo one is by far the most fun I ever had in multiplayer. The updated Blood Gulch in Halo 2 was really good too but it was disappointing to not see an updated Sidewinder. I think I remember hearing about a downloadable version of it but I never saw it.
sega_SHARK #32 Posted May 31, 2013 I had a blast playing Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast last year. Quake 3 was a lot of fun too. But as far as hanging out and showcasing some retro games, Demon Attack and Berzerk! on the 2600 were the most fun. They aren't really multiplayer, but the two player versions give you a break in order to grab a beer and talk some trash. I really have to get a copy of Warlords... oh, I almost forgot: Soul Calibur I have two Agetec arcade sticks for the Dreamcast, so this is pretty bad ass to bust out. It still looks great hooked up through a VGA box running S-video on a flat screen.
MH_Warrior #33 Posted May 31, 2013 I've NEVER heard of Ribbit King... It's a weird game, and definitely not for everyone. Basically it's a over-the-top cartoonish golf game only you're whacking frogs with hammers and making them hop through various obstacles and into a goal. I remember it being panned on G4 (remember that channel?) but it was a fun party game and my friends and I played it a lot.

Eltigro #35 Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) Many of these were so fun because I had so much fun playing them with friends, not necessarily because they were/are great multiplayer games. Also, they are in no particular order of greatness, just as I think of them. 1. Military Madness; TG-16 (my best friend and I used to play this all night, many fights and arguments over the game, but still great memories) 2. Contra; NES 3. Xybots; Arcade 4. Lifeforce; NES 5. Super Off Road; Arcade 6. Mario Kart 64; N64 7. Wii Sports; Wii 8. World Class Baseball; TG-16 (best friend and I will still say the name of one of the teams "The Stars" in the SNL "The Bears" style) 9. Golden Axe; Arcade 10. Altered Beast; Arcade (never really that great of a game IMO, but much more fun when 2-player simultaneous) 11. Rampage; Arcade 12. Bomberman; SNES 13. Mario Bros.; NES 14. Combat; 2600 15. Space Invaders; 2600 Side note, the SNK game Iron Tank for the NES has a mistake in the book that mentions a 2-player mode. When i was in 7th grade, a friend and I rented it and called the toll free SNK tip line to ask about how to get to the 2-player mode and were told about the mistake. It seems the book was written/printed or whatever before the game was finished and the 2-player mode was never included. Always thought it would have been a great 2-player simultaneous game.
