MacGurl #1 Posted February 19, 2003 I'm trying to find a Dreamcast in good condition, with a few non-sports games for around $40-$50 shipped for someone just getting into gaming. If anyone has one they can part with that works & comes with the cables, please let me know.
Cassidy Nolen #2 Posted February 19, 2003 Game Stop and Funcoland are selling their DC's for that price now. You can still stock up on some cheapo games now for it, too. That way, there is a warranty (we all know how reliable they are!). HTH, Cassidy If you need me to pick you up one, just PM me, and we can paypal it? MacGurl #3 Posted February 19, 2003 Is it more expensive to buy from GameStop online? I just checked their website and it says they're $60 with 1 game. I was hoping to get several games
Cassidy Nolen #4 Posted February 19, 2003 They were 39.99 for the system and one controller this weekend when I was there. I checked Funcoland online, and you are right. 20 bucks more! Strange. You may want to email them, and see if they would honor the store prices. Maybe that price is with shipping? LMK, C
Miqorz #5 Posted February 19, 2003 I know this is kind of off-topic so sorry... But yes I have noticed that around here the on-line prices are MUCH higher than the in-store price. Like when I wanted to buy Dragon Warrior 4 for nes the online price said 40 and in-store it 20....oh well I ain't complaining!
+-^CrossBow^- #6 Posted February 19, 2003 There is a GameXChange here locally that also sells the DCs. Many times they have them complete in original box and plastic wrap etc... However, they want a flat 49.99 for their DCs. But, the good news is that GameXchange honors a 90 day...yes....a 90 day warranty on the systems and games! So I could pick up one of their better looking DCs for you and then look around town for a few good games for fairly cheap. Most DC games run anywhere from $5 for games like the sports titles and Space Channel 5 to $30 for Skies of Arcadia and House of the Dead type stuff. Just let me know...and I am sure I can find one in good shape that was made before Oct. 2000 which is important and hook you up.
holygrailvideogames.com #7 Posted February 19, 2003 I know this is more than you want to spend, but if you decide to get a new Dreamcast this place sells them for about $70. www.trezorshop.com
lonesome_pa #8 Posted February 19, 2003 You might want to try Electronics Boutique. They sell used DC's $29.99 that have a 90 day warranty but they do also offer a 6 month (no questions asked) warranty for $6.00. They have all the hook-ups needed and one joystick, but no games. I have seen games there for as low as $2.99 and up. Try one of those (they might be more online, not exactly sure) if you have any around you. I was in one this weekend and they had about 20 or so Playstations, about 20 N64's, and about a dozen DC's, all of which are $29.99. If there are none around you, let me know and I can probably pick one up for you.
+-^CrossBow^- #9 Posted February 19, 2003 Lonesome_PA: That is a much better deal! I actually do have a brand new EB that just opened here locally about a month before Xmas '02. But their DC selection was very very small. They had no consoles, and only had a few games of which none were less than 6.99 in price. Also I bought their one and only remaining Sega brand DC controller which was NIB for 7.99. I haven't been back since, but the impression from the clerks in the store when I picked up this stuff was that they weren't going to carry it for much longer. They basically said "Ah...your helping us get rid of the junk...thanks!" I got pissed about that and said something to the effect of how the DC was loads better than the PSX and N64 junk they still had...to which they said..."Yes, but that "junk" still sells better than the DC stuff ever did." Can't argue with that logic I guess.... Still if Lonesome can get them with the 90day warranties for 29.99..that is the way to go. Saturns and Genesis systems are the only things around here for that price. SNES are 39.99 and N64 units are still like 59.99 used...ugh...
lonesome_pa #10 Posted February 19, 2003 Crossbow, they even had a SNES (boxed) for $24.99. I didn't pick it up though.

MacGurl #12 Posted February 20, 2003 Thanks for the help guys. A fellow AA member is attempting to hook me up with a friend of theirs that works at EB. If that falls through, I'll be back!
