There is:

XC12 - with pressed PLAY

Under the screen You can see tape box ... with many titles.

On the screen is something like turbo loading screen.

 

So, I think the "Remote boot" is a kind of turbo integrated into ROM. The switch colud be the same as on turbo cartridges, or some other way to force cold reset.
