Did Atari Inc release any 5200 games in 1984

Recommended Posts

I was going through my 5200 collection. I did not have any Atari games that had a 1984 date on them, besides the unreleased prototype reproductions games. Was Choplifter released in 84. I have A 86 release on. Any info? or input. If Warner stopped the production in May of 84. Was there any games released be fore then.

I think Gremlins typically has a 84 date on the cart?

It wasn't released until 1987. Choplifter was the only game Atari published in 1984. Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus were supposed to be released that year as well but didn't go out until '86, and there was a whole gaggle of games that were ready to go for '84 but never got released.

Thanks guys, for the input. That's what i figured also. It's wierd that Activsion and Parker brothers released games for the 5200 in 84. But Atari only got one out the door. :)

Atari Inc. cancelling the 5200 earlier that year and then going under in July had something to do with that.

I disagree. That's not entirely accurate. Or at the very least, it is controversial for me.

There has been much debate on this subject in the past:

Hey Marty, can you confirm that Gremlins came out in '87? The sales charts that Curt posted a while back don't show it in the 1986 report so I assume it was released in 1987.
