By Popular Demand ... Pinball is HERE on the 5200

Recommended Posts

Is it anything like David's Midnight Magic? Some screenshots would be nice, too.

Any new game of a different genre is always welcome for the 5200! Can't wait to see more!

I remember having a lot of fun with that game on an Apple II in the early 80s. Haven't played it for decades :D

edit: Just played it for on the Virtual Apple site, it's still pretty fun...

Very nice screenshot, despite being monochrome. I'm kind of a nut for pinball sims. I've collected all 3 Pinball games for Atari (Video Pinball, Midnight Magic, and the elusive Bumper Bash) and all 7 NES (including one Famicom exclusive title), and I have also started working on Genesis and SNES pinball sims. I also got the Alien Crush and Devil's Crush TG-16 pinball games on Virtual Console. It's actually fairly easy to obtain a complete pinball set for the 8- and 16-bit consoles seeing as how it's a niche genre without a ton of entries. Sadly, I don't have a 5200, but it's exciting to see a homebrew Pinball game being developed. Due to the physics involved, I suspect homebrew pinball games are difficult to develop and debug. Is this pure homebrew or are you porting existing code? Either way, it looks promising!

Problems with sound

Bit 3, the 400/800's speaker control can still be toggled in the 5200 to produce sounds through the TV

though i'm not getting the sounds through gtia on the console

update, final version works fine on stock 5200

no video mod supports audio on this game (sound through gtia)

maybe someone can come with a sound fix for the low budget and homebrew mod kits ? :?

2 versions available

gtia and pokey audio

(for composite modded machines)

*colors enhanced,

*new sound effects,

*every key on the controller used

*tilt tweaked and mapped to 0 key

the hardest to adapt until now.

So, is this a port of Pinball Construction Set? If so, will you be releasing an import utility to insert a users table into your engine?

I dont think so - Night Mission was a stand alone Pinball game released on the 8bit computers before PCS. Its not half bad.

You'd have to ask _Fandal_

only left flipper works

Maybe someone enable the right flipper to this DEMO and add sound to make this into a game.

Both flippers work.

Left flipper = controller 1 fire button

Right flipper = controller 2 fire button

The idea is to use the dual Joystick Coupler like a mini pinball machine.

Since _Fandal_ did these conversions for free can you post the binary?

I only tested in emulation, but the above-posted "Demo" seems fully functioning. Both flippers work, sound is ON, and color is through artifacting (unless one has a video mod).
