Nice start - good music.

This is a game I'd considered doing a few years back - Puzzle Bobble 3 is one of my most played in Mame.

The big tech hurdle is getting lots of colour, I'd thought about using a GTIA blended mode in a kernal and doing the shooting guide with missile positioning changes.

From 5 minutes play, the scrolling down seems somewhat easy and the level seems to just go on forever.

Just checked it out on my phone with Droid800.. Could use a bump in difficulty, but very nicely done!

This will probably join Jewel Bits as two games I'd rather play in emulation on my phone instead of their original Android form. :-)

tried to contact the author to enhance it/convert to the 5200,

it could use some landscapes,

no luck yet...

I did a screen to demonstrate how such a game might look, using the ICE PCIN (Graphics 12+10) mode. It's in this thread:

http://atariage.com/forums/topic/203052-puzzle-bobble-on-a8-using-pcin-character-mode/?do=findComment&comment=2611279

I basically built the screen using G2F and made two ICE font files from the Gr. 12 and Gr. 10 renders. The screen requires 4k for both fonts and 960 bytes for the screenmap, and there are 7 unique colors for the bubbles. The screen looks better in NTSC than PAL, due to the full frame flicker used here.

Such a game could be done using the ICE CIN mode (12+11) using the technique that was used in my edit of Itay's "The Wall" Tetris clone: Making the mode changes per scanline instead of fullscreen flicker. This allows 60 colors onscreen at 160 pixel resolution.
