BrianC #4 Posted May 15, 2013 Lots of good homebrews. Thrust+ Platinum, Juno First, Marble Craze, Seawolf, Space Rocks (coming to store soon), Gunfight, and Star Fire are good stuff.
ilovethevectrex #5 Posted May 15, 2013 Lots of good homebrews. Thrust+ Platinum, Juno First, Marble Craze, Seawolf, Space Rocks (coming to store soon), Gunfight, and Star Fire are good stuff. ive seen gameplay of most of those, those do look awesome marble craze is basically marble madness right? ive heard that ones good. and thrust+ i am firmiliar with because it is also on the vectrex xD
+Gemintronic #6 Posted May 15, 2013 "Best" and "Available" can be a moving target with homebrews. That being said, what games do you like to play? There's probably a homebrew that does that

Algus #8 Posted May 15, 2013 As godly as Space Rocks is, at its heart it is still Asteroids. If I could have just one homebrew, Toyshop Trouble would be it. It is an incredible game.
Impaler_26 #9 Posted May 15, 2013 i play addicting games that have a creative design. Then Toyshop Trouble is the game you're looking for.
+Nathan Strum #10 Posted May 15, 2013 Tough to pick just one. Toyshop Trouble may have the most original concept out there though. I happen to like Fall Down a lot. I return to that more than most others for a quick game now and then. Has great head-to-head gameplay, too. I've reviewed most of the homebrews in the AA store, although I'm starting to fall behind a little.
Thomas Jentzsch #11 Posted May 15, 2013 IMO Oystron and QB are quite original.
Thomas Jentzsch #12 Posted May 15, 2013 ...although I'm starting to fall behind a little. Definitely!
BrianC #13 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) qb doesn't seem to be available for sale anymore, but I definitely second Oystron. I first played that on the Activision Anthology for the GBA, but it's even better on real hardware. "Best" and "Available" can be a moving target with homebrews. Maybe, but the Atari Age store is currently open and has a great deal available. Marble Craze has similarities to Marble Madness, but it plays different enough to stand on its own. Controls similar to one of those wodden labyrinth marble maze games with the dual paddle control scheme. The game also has some incredible music for the 2600. Cebus Capucinis #16 Posted May 15, 2013 If you're looking for original games, Toyshop Trouble, Oystron, and qB are incredibly good, with an additional mention on my part for Seaweed Assault -- it is very addictive! If you're looking for unique ports of other games, I would highly suggest either Ladybug, Juno First, or Medieval Mayhem. All have astounding graphics, great gampelay, and are absolutely some of the best quality homebrews out there.
+save2600 #17 Posted May 15, 2013 Bottom line: don't limit yourself to just one. Seriously. There have been so many great homebrews released within the past few years... if you're on a budget, I'd pursue some of them before spending dough on expensive and rare original releases that are typically no fun to play.
