RickR #1 Posted May 18, 2013 Hello: I'm brand new to the Atari ST world, and I've just acquired a 520STFM. It has a bad floppy drive. However, it appears that the only thing wrong with it is the drive belt -- it's very loose and worn. Is there any place that sells replacement belts? Or does anyone know the specs so I can order a generic belt? I do have an old EPSON PC floppy drive. I was able to change the drive number to 0 and it does work fine with the ST. The only problem with this solution is the drive face doesn't really work with the STFM case without some modifications. I'd rather repair the ST drive if possible. Thanks. GadgetUK #2 Posted May 18, 2013 I would measure it and see what you can find on ebay. A tighter belt will work as long as its not too tight.
RickR #3 Posted May 18, 2013 I shall try, but the example I have is stretched and sagged pretty badly. Guesstimation time!

RickR #5 Posted May 18, 2013 I found and ordered here: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 320721362657 It was about $7 shipped from the UK to Oregon. Now we wait... In the meantime, I've left the Epson drive in there and just left the computer cover loose. I've got a lot to learn about the ST. Mine came with the mouse, an Atari monitor, and a stack of boxed games (nothing special). Is there any "must-have" games or software I should keep an eye out for? +save2600 #8 Posted May 18, 2013 yeah, I had to write or call Brad in order to get mine... not everything is listed on the site. $20 min now though? That kinda sucks, but fairly easy to muster up another item or 5!
GadgetUK #9 Posted May 18, 2013 Best shoots himself in the foot over min order and shipping costs. I would have ordered several times but he makes it hard. Eg. 4160 STe badges, cheap, cheap postage but no, he tries to get you to ramp the order up to say $150, which ends up with me not bothering or going elsewhere...
