Custom job maybe? Or did Nintendo make VB in silver at one time maybe for in house testing and dev?

I can see bits of red so it's painted on and not molded silver plastic. But was wondering why.

They painted over the virtual boy logo. That was about the only thing zazzing the front of it up...

And why is a virtual boy worth $200+? I'd figure $75--but really more like $30 for that one, since it's deformed.

I like how its marked seller refurbished, but he didn't even bother to knock off some of the dust... looks like its been sitting in a box in the garage for 10 years.

It's definitely painted. The original VB had a smoother finish, and you can see the imperfections where the red is peeking through. Plus, it looks like whoever painted it did so with it propped up on the stand, as clip area is painted as well (poorly).

Strange that the guy is selling with a "hm, that's strange" kind of attitude. He's over at NintendoAge, I figured he'd write a better description than that. Definitely not worth the price he's listing it for, and I really hope he doesn't lure some uninformed sucker to buy it. :|

Um... yuck. Painted for sure, and poorly done at that. What a shame. You want to paint a Genesis 2.. fine. But a VB? It already looks cool in red, and the logo is awesome to boot. The games on the other hand...
