Xot #26 Posted February 22, 2003 How can you forget F-Zero? My favorite racer of all time, hands down.
Paul Slocum #27 Posted February 22, 2003 I really like Auto Racing for the Intellivision. Racing Destruction set on the 64 is really great too. -Paul

Scooterb23 #29 Posted February 22, 2003 Galaxy 5000 on the NES has a warm spot in my heart... other than that...Rock 'N Roll Racing on the SNES... I never did really like F-Zero. So don't ask me why it was the first game I got with my GBA...
Vic George 2K3 #30 Posted February 22, 2003 Enduro for the 2600 (which was the closest thing to the unreleased Turbo game from Coleco) and Super Mario Kart for the SNES.
chrisbid #31 Posted February 22, 2003 i cant praise Micro Machines enough. Its a fairly rare game, and the NES, Genesis, and SNES versions are all virtaully the same (the sound is the only glaring difference between the three), but it drips with gameplay, and its a well designed and challenging game. If you ever find a copy for a reasonable price, by all means pick it up. The two player game is also very fun, and has a unique setup. Virtua Racing on the Genesis is also quite good, but a tad limited. It came out shortly after Star Fox came out on the SNES, and it showed that the Genny wasnt as underpowered as everyone was claiming that it was, but sadly, Sega charged 99 dollars for the game, and few people played it. Virtua Racing Deluxe for the 32x was a nice upgrade that had three different kinds of cars, and two extra tracks. Avoid the Saturn version

Ze_ro #33 Posted February 25, 2003 Virtua Racing on the Genesis is also quite good [...] it showed that the Genny wasnt as underpowered as everyone was claiming that it was Well, it's not really a fair comparison in power to talk about a game like VR for the Genesis... the cartridge had extra chips in it. Starfox and family did as well, but it's still sort of like comparing apples to oranges. As for racing games, I really liked Up 'n' Down and Bump 'n' Jump... although I suppose those don't really count so much as "racing"... I also liked the old Monaco GP overhead racer. --Zero
Iron Chef Pontiff #34 Posted March 2, 2003 I would have to agree with my comrade on Pole Position II. Especially if you do tacks other than test track(Indianapolis). I have spent many a day dumping a quarter into that machine.
Kasenoke #35 Posted March 3, 2003 I say "Aryton Senna's Super Monaco GP II" for the Sega Genesis. Here's why: This game is so fun, its hard to put it down. I didn't know you could cram as much stuff into a Genesis cart, although they've done it before with "6-Pak". There's seriously a LOT of stuff in here, and its all good stuff too. There are 2 live action videos in this game. I didn't even know there could be ONE!!! The first one is about 4 seconds long, the second about 3 minutes. Daaaang. (As you can tell, Im a Joe Dirt fan.) Yet, this game isn't just features, its mucho on the funno. It might only be 1-p, but with how much fun it is, who wants human competition? Check it out on emulator if you don't have it. Aryton Senna's Super Monaco GP II gets my pick.
Raymond #36 Posted March 10, 2003 Hang-On (SMS) Formula One: Built To Win (NES) Al Unser Jr Turbo Racing (NES) Andretti Racing (Genesis) I agree about Aryton Senna's Super Monaco GP II, Kasenoke. The game was very advanced for its time. It's still fun today too.

Paralistalon #43 Posted March 12, 2003 Galaxy 5000 on the NES has a warm spot in my heart... IS THAT THE GAME WHERE YOU GET TO RACE ON ALL 9 PLANETS STARTING WITH MERCURY? AND YOU HAVE TO REPAIR YOUR SHIP BETWEEN RACES AND YOU CAN BUY NEW SHIPS? OMG I LOVED THAT GAME!!! (in case the all caps didn't clue you in to that) Other than that, I'm going with Mario Kart. I never played F-Zero on the SNES. Oh well, now I'm more excited about the GameCube F-Zero!
