Lord Helmet #26 Posted May 29, 2013 I'd love to get a Wii U, but I just don't see the system getting all of the games I want to play. Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Far Cry 3...
Metal Ghost #27 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm personally looking very much forward to the media switching/streaming capabilities of the Xbox One, along with the ability to apparently immediately switch between TV and Games, saving wherever you left off in a game in order to instantly start back up in the same place. With two kids and my game time at a premium, I will be using this a lot. That's my situation at least.
Austin #28 Posted May 30, 2013 The One looks absolutely fantastic with all the things it can do on the fly. However, I'm not willing to give up my privacy and control for the things it offers.
Uzumaki #29 Posted May 30, 2013 But will XBox One play original XBox games like PSOne did with original PSX games? I hope Microsoft remembers to disconnect all of their telephone in support department when XBox One is released.
Mendon #30 Posted May 30, 2013 (edited) The issue about online connectivity still bothers me a bit but I'm not going to come to any sort of "Will Purchase" - "Won't Purchase" decision until all the facts are known. But... another issue I've read mulitple stories about that bothers me just as much is pricing. I've read reports on several gaming sites that MS is going to have a two price system for the Xbox One: $499 outright for the system or $299 if you sign a two year contract for Xbox Live service at $15 a month (sort of like what you do with cell phones). Again, I'm not going to make a purchase decision until facts are known but I can say this: $500 is far too expensive for my gaming needs and I'm not signing a two year contract for Xbox Live service at $15 a month to make the system more affordable at time of purchase. I'll try to link to one of these reports later. (NOTE: I just renewed my Gold Membership by buying a 12mo card from Amazon for $39.99 and got 800 MS points free for doing so) Edited May 30, 2013 by Mendon
Red 5 #31 Posted May 30, 2013 I admit I am an Xbox fanboy, but WiiU just may win me over for good. I 'kind of like' my WiiU right now, but other than exclusives and having an amazing Netflix interface, the Xbox is by far my favorite. Here is why this will change... If companies are going to make games for Xbox One, PS4 and WiiU, I will wind up playing them on WiiU... for one reason. GameFly or Used games. I will suffer the less pretty graphics if I can still rent games from GameFly or buy them used. Xbox is going to charge a fee to 'unlock' used games. That means no more gamefly, and buying used means pay the store, then pay xbox. That is a deal breaker for me. And in the end this kills games that aren't from big name companies thay pay for a 9+ rating on IGN. I would have never played Catherine on a whim for $60. I would have never played Heavy Rain on a whim for $60. Xcom, Bulletstorm, etc. So this means that in the end, these fun games without bajillion dollar budgets will go away. So we best like Madden, Gears of War, Halo, Call of Duty, Morrowind, Zelda, Mario, Uncharted, God of War because that is all we will be getting from here out? I like these games, but I love new ideas and small companies too. I just can't afford $60 to cross my fingers on a small budget game that may suck. WiiU will allow me to still use gamefly. That means if I really like a game, I will buy it and add it to my collection. If I don't, no loss. Xbox One already admitted they won't let me do this without being fined. It upsets me because I really loved the 360.
Master Phruby #32 Posted May 30, 2013 Of course your basing all of this on a rumor and not an official published price list from Microsoft. For all you know, Nintendo will follow suit if Microsoft and Sony go through with this rumor. Nintendo/Sony's executives are just a little smarter than that doofus at Microsoft. E3 comes in less than three weeks. We'll see what they say then.
Chuck D. Head #33 Posted May 30, 2013 All of this considered, is there anyone else who feels that Nintendo would be better off if they were just a publisher and not a console manufacturer? Especially since the era of them selling the hardware at some kind of profit seem to be gone? Of course, I still think if they were to hire a competent marketing agency to talk to the customers instead of trying (failing) to do it themselves, they would be so much further ahead.
atarian63 #34 Posted May 30, 2013 I would be thinking more of m$ as a publisher

JamesD #36 Posted May 30, 2013 Before we jump on the hype train I think we should consider that people probably started getting their tax refunds back at about that time.
+wood_jl #37 Posted May 31, 2013 I'm not in a hurry for anything. I have more consoles and games than I can possibly ever play, so why should I be? That having been said: The Xbox One **SHOULD** have dissuaded me from considering buying a Wii U. It has not, not even one iota. Of course, I'm waiting for (1) Wii U exclusives, (2) "Greatest Hits" cheap new games, (3) a plethroa of cheap USED Wii U games, and (4) the inevitable price drop - a future Wii U purchase does still look likely. Of course, I can't rule out the Xbox One - the story has yet to pan out and be told - but I just got my 360 a few months ago, LOL. People act like they're starved for entertainment! Anything but!
sh3-rg #38 Posted June 2, 2013 The reason for the jump in sales was simply because over 1/4 was slashed off the price... nobody can seriously say people were sat watching Microsoft's reveal for a console nobody expects to be able to buy for 6 months and suddenly just had to rush out and buy a Wii-U right that minute. You can "prove" all kinds of stuff with percentage statistics - 875% of not very much is still not a right lot. The figures the article pointed to were rankings based on the previous 24 hours (they're updated hourly). It went from being the 388th most popular purchase in pc & video games to 48th. The apparent "875% increase" was sales on the Thursday compared to sales on the Wednesday. Check that page on a rainy Saturday morning at the start of the month and you'll see all kinds of huge spikes as people blow their wages on this, that and the other. Plain old fanboi spin, nothing more.

Well, I did. I watched the One reveal and was so turned off by it and the PS4 that I did go out and buy a Wii U. I am very happy with it as well.
