Dukes of Hazzard

Recommended Posts

I'm still trying to decide after all these years if I like this game or not.

This was one of the games I got when Camelot Music Stores started to liquidate their gaming inventory. I recall a hefty price of $9.99. It was probably for me the most played using the steering wheel expansion accessory (not really saying much).

After seeing some recent Youtube vids of the gameplay, I'm trying to decide is it more of a action game or a quasi-driving sim? I'm leaning more to the latter. Seeing these vids, the gameplay seems kinda 'blah'. Maybe I was jaded by nostalgia, just thought there was more to catching the criminal than what's shown.

What's everybody else's thoughts on this game?

Here is the vid I was going off on...

Too faded a color palette and plain backgrounds for my taste. For fans of the show, the scenery looks nothing like Hazzard County, and what's with tying the car to a two-lane blacktop? Bo and Luke were well known for off-roading the General Lee. Maybe this worked for Dukes fans back when it released, but I hope the Playstation versions did the show more justice later on.

Every time I see this game I can't help but think it was a total unrelated project that they decided to stick the Dukes of Hazzard name on for some reason. It just doesn't feel like a DOH type of game. I've never cared for it.

Yeah, but that Rear View Mirror and southern style music are what truly make this game!
