108 Stars
The title says it all. And no, I'm not talking about the cheat itself; I mean a gameplay explanation. While the original Battlezone is simple, the new version is quite complex, and the lack of documentation is a problem. I managed to pick up some items, others not... never could I complete a mission. Is there any kind of manual out there? Or can someone here give a good explanation?
Atari_afternoon
Well basically you can clear all the hundreds of battlefields...you can "save" by noting down the passwords (or by saving with an emulator...). Carl has the best "explanations" I have found on how to get going in the special game: http://songbird-prod...in/bz2kpat.html Edited May 28, 2013 by Atari_afternoon
GadgetUK
Not sure which game we are talking about here? I've got the Battlezone 2000 grey lip cart, has there been another Battlezone release?
108 Stars
No, it's just that the real game is hidden. The developers made a true "2000" game much like Tempest 2000, a complete reimagining of Battlezone. Very complex, 2000 levels, scaling and solid polygon enemies instead of vector graphics. Atari then deemed it too complex and had them make a straight port of the old Battlezone instead. But the devs hid the "real" Battlezone 2000 as an Easter Egg, you can play it by using a cheat. There's just no manual for it, and with the game being quite complex it's a steep learning curve It's probably the only game ever made where the easter egg is bigger than the normal game.^^ Edited May 28, 2013 by 108 Stars
GadgetUK
Omfg, how did I NOT know this lol. What's the cheat??
108 Stars
Go to the tank select screen with the blinking red, press "Option 1" 3 times and then reset (Option 1+restart). It may take a couple of tries. Edited May 28, 2013 by 108 Stars

GadgetUK
Wow, that's awesome!! Does look bloody complex, Atari had a point lol.
108 Stars
Yeah, but then again they could have just made both versions selectable at the start, and a manual would have helped with the complex version.^^
Songbird
Here is a very rough manual my brother put together almost twenty years ago: http://songbird-productions.com/lynxdomain/bz2kpat.html Enjoy!

plx
Just checked this finally out - nice indeed. I think that atari decided to go the original way in first place because this 2000 version seems to be a bit overloaded for the Lynx maybe - The graphics around the action screen and letters are hard to read and so on... Still, I like this extra option and it's great that its possible anyway
