Recommended Posts

I think it's safe to say we have the best sounding video chip of all 8-bit machines :)

It is almost impossible to believe! I am really interested in this. Are these mp3's records from genuine, unmodified atari 8bit computers? Is only GTIA involved, or is it also Pokey?

no, maybe Epi? Mono?

not yet, I must fine tune beeper engine (different volumes for channels)

yes. ONLY GTIA, no Pokey. Mint unmodified Atari (XE/XL), lot of undocumented (stable) 6502C codes for speed. in fact, it sounds a lot better than the mp3 from laptop speakers, eg. very powerful drum.

here's original music in .xm format:

Impressive! Many years ago, I did some 1-bit digitized sounds (and voices) for an game that used the built-in speaker on an 8Mhz PC-AT. It wasn't nearly as good as this.

this is synthesis not digitized sounds...

little optimization... the question is, do you like bass :-)

I think this is close to final version of tritone engine.

Wow, just wow - that's incredible.

And just so I am totally clear - just the done with the keyboard "beeper"?!?!

I assume it can be used alongside/mixed with pokey sound too?

there is an example music in the attachment (.xm format with reference instruments). edit your own music and let's hear it on Atari.
