cimerians #1 Posted June 2, 2013 Remake of the Atari XL version which is rather well done for keyboard controls. Even better if you use XPadder to use a controller with it. Works even on Win8 64bit: http://games.pixas.de/hero.html Love HERO. Still play this game at least once a month.
moycon #2 Posted June 2, 2013 HERO was one of my all time favorites as well. I remember "frying" the game gave you like 256 lives (or something like that), more than enough to get through all the screens....and beyond. I loved how many screens the game had, and how you really felt like you were headed deep underground. One of the best games on the Atari 2600 IMO. It was ok in gameroom but without precise joystick controls it was pretty hard for me. This one plays pretty well and it can be fired up quickly for a quick game. (No install). CatPix #4 Posted June 2, 2013 I discovered HERO very recently (the Atari 2600 is quite ignored here) and... It's just amazing. This game is simple. Simple story, simple graphisms, simple gameplay Yet, it's excellent, and fun. Everytime I play this game, I'm sucked in for hours, and I can't stop thinking "the 2600 is so good at making simple action game, why so much of the gamotheque is made of crappy shooters?" This remake looks amazing. I like the fuzzy looking of the ground, and the score board totally reminds me of my first hours of gaming on many MS-DOs games.
