Video_Invader #1 Posted June 9, 2013 The south has it's share of humidity big time. Should I worry about arcade games in a building with no climate control or should I relocate them into the house? They work good (so far).
R.Cade #2 Posted June 9, 2013 Yes, humidity will shorten their life- they need climate control. Particleboard will swell and flake, and the electronics will oxidize very quickly.
Video_Invader #3 Posted June 9, 2013 what I figured. I had originally planned on adding ac/heat but never did. I have an extra room anyway so i'll just be moving them there. I just recently put them in the building so I still have time. Probably do it this week.
7800Lover #4 Posted June 13, 2013 I sympathize with you. I live in the South too...in North Carolina and it is hot and humid here as of now. Good luck protecting your arcade machines.

Oh yeah, they're coming in the house. I have an extra room that needed remodeling and it'll be done soon.
JrPac #6 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Yes, this is a severe case. Here was the bottom on one of my particle board machines once stored for many years in a non-climate controlled area and suffered water damage at a time. You could pull the t-nuts out in a second. Multiple sections of the cabinet were also swelling. The coin counter only read 5k. Plywood, which is what many games were able to stand a much better beating though it's better to be safe than sorry. Take them in. Video_Invader #8 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) New arcade is set up. Complete with 5 games and no humidity. Still have to put up some space invaders on the wall, etc. Edited June 23, 2013 by Video_Invader

Slutty #12 Posted June 24, 2013 I live in Oklahoma myself. Got up to 115 last year and the humidity is pretty much always 100 percent. Just keep them inside somewhere and don't leave them on all the time and they will be fine. Besides some cosmetics work every now and then.
