Is Zero 5 worth the high price?...

Recommended Posts

I fear the only way to get beyond that is for someone to make skunkboards available pretty much on demand, indefinately, if someone orders, make one. Of course that's hard to do without having at least a stock of bare boards on hand. But Songbird and Telegames seem to just keep chugging their cart games out, Songbird rarely seems to run out of his own titles, and if he does, they are back in stock withing a month or two, Telegames seem to do it bi-anually. But as long as there isn't a consistant source for people to buy Skunks (or something similar; maybe jagtopus carts) at their convenience, we'll get speculation.

Oh, and by the way, CyranoJ, since I do have a skunkboard, I'll be more than happy to use patches if made available, and not mod my controller, but I'm one of the few that have a skunkboard.

As usual it depends on if you're a collector or game player. As a game player I'd never spend more than $60. If you go to GOAT and buy it for $75 make sure you've got your personal excuses for that $15 extra.

As a side an inexpensive skunkboard mini would be great. If Vladr continues to make progress on a Jaguar BASIC there could be an influx of amateur coders making small games. Perfect for inexpensive "one-off" boards. maybe even requiring a seperate programmer device if that would cut cost (instead of USB or SD)

"REBOOT guys have had the full performance in their pure ASM for about a decade, yet all we see are just 8-bit-style games anyway."

That's nice, and it's really inspiring me to continue to work on releasing RAPTOR.... and coming from someone with no Jaguar releases under his belt too. Can't imagine why there aren't a bunch of active devs on that site....

yeah, I know not the drama he speaks of. I just want to see more options for Jaguar development. Please pay attention to me instead :) I'm always geeked about more RaptoR news.

if there were a flashcart that took advantage of mass storage device like USB or Compact flash then i could see the use of patches .etc as being more attractive to people who are interested in them.

that little device for the 2600 looks interesting, would be nice to see one that had a little toggle switch for rapid fire for each of the Jaguar's 3 primary buttons. due to all the things that'd need to come together (a proper mold and the actual electronics) I would consider it unlikely but it'd be cool to have something like that available to the community.

Don't need a mold. There are thousands of readily available, unused Jaguar Team Taps that could serve as the device. Heck, I see no reason why Team Taps couldn't just be modded with rapid fire switches. I'd donate mine to someone that wanted to try this.

Team Tap... why didn't I (or anyone else) think of that? Oh yeah... because NOBODY actually uses them! :rolling:

no kidding, that possiblilty never crossed my mind

tbh i'd prefer a design more like little adapter thing that save2600 showed that could connect right into the control port and that you could plug your jaguar controller into. the team tap adds a little bit of bulk and doesn't look as great on a shelf-type console arrangement.

using the team tap shell does seem like a clever solution to produce them cheaply while possibly also extending the feature to multiple controllers (for games like Raiden that support two players). that's probably the more practial solution in this case considering the limited number of the people that would likely be interested in any type of rapid fire device for the jaguar.

Even as a piece of collection, over 80$ it becomes a bit ridiculous. The game might quite good though I have always wanted to give it a try and once or twice, I looked around in order to get a hold on it..but I doubt the game is good enough for such price. Rayman yes, NBA JAM TE mabye, Zero 5...I have my doubts about it!

Don't worry, I want to see Drunken Pooper DX on the Jag ;)

Sorry to derail this thread once again. Just wanted people to know I'm actively hunting down the original author of

for his blessing on the Jaguar port.

Needless to say MY game wont be $75 dollars. :)

You're selling yourself short mate ;)

Now that I think about it, I could name it "Gorfs Buttlesphere Gold vs Towers II" and sell it for a cool grand!

Got in contact with the original developer of Drunken Pooper. Just has to give me the green light!

Got in contact with Matt Ripston (original developer of Drunken Pooper). Just has to give me the green light!

love it! I so want this on Jag! But pooing in the bath???

Zero 5...I was lucky enough to snatch it at a decent price about 3 years back. I find it quite hard but rewarding with practice. For some reason the view of the ship changes to a far away view all of its own accord. This adds pressure to the playability! But go for it if you have a chance to get your hands on it.

Sorry to interject again. It's related to Zero 5 only because it's an alternative to spending $50-$100 dollars.

The developer of Drunken Pooper gave me the OK for any ports to any system! As long as I no longer mention his name ^_^ LOL

So, if RaptoR ever gets a scripting language to mate with it (or VladR releases his BASIC) Drunken Pooper DX is a GO (literally)!

I did actually stumble upon your Adult Checksum Corrupt a while ago when I googled myself. I can't believe someone actually played that game! I made it so long ago, had basically forgotten about it.

I don't mind if you port it to whatever, but yeah, definitely would like my name off of it. Kinda funny thing to show up in google under my name.

Thanks

The reason is explained here by the original author:

I wrote it to make fun of my then roommate for getting drunk and pooping in the shower, then trying to blame me.

I think you could pretty much do that with RMotion

[edited to stay on topic]

I'm seeing more $200 dollar price points for this cart. It was debatable for $75 as a "fug it I want it" self gift. It looks like an oddly controlled Starfox. Every video I've seen looks like your ship is stuck to the middle of the screen and you rotate on an axis ON that part of the screen - not the environment around it. Hard to describe.

We really need the Jag equivalent of those Dreamcast SD adapters that run for $20. Distribute games on SD to keep the price reasonable.

I was thinking a Zero 5 thread would have less suckage with less homebrew and coding hijacking

Simply put everyone who is active and produces stuff on ignore, that way you can live out your AA existence in peace, watch the tumbleweeds roll on by and party like it's 1996.
