0078265317 #1 Posted June 15, 2013 The Super Nintendo I have is heavily yellow and chipped some. Yellow is no big deal but the chips annoys me. Then I saw this. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FSNES-Super-Nintendo-Works-Sometimes-No-Hookups-or-Controllers-Painted-Black-%2F281108784458%3Fpt%3DVideo_Games%26hash%3Ditem417363a54a I know its custom but looks mint except the paint job. I mean no cracks or anything. The question is does the black look ugly or should I buy it?
128Kgames #2 Posted June 15, 2013 Does black look ugly? No. Does that SNES in the listing look ugly? Hell yes. Stay away at all costs. Pick a real one up that hasn't been crapped on like that one.
sqoon #3 Posted June 15, 2013 The picture looks like the black paint job has been scuffed up badly. Avoid it.
Uzumaki #4 Posted June 15, 2013 Lots of missing spot below reset button, the label below power button was poorly masked. I think it was painted by an 8 year old. No serial number.. I wonder if it can be reported to eBay for violating the rule about defiling or removing serial number label? eBay usually frowns on this because it makes tracking stolen good harder. OldSchoolRetroGamer #5 Posted June 15, 2013 lol description "The system works every now and then" looks like crap and doesn't work right.
dendawg #6 Posted June 15, 2013 Looks like somebody went nuts with a can of Krylon Fusion...and that description..."works sometimes?" Translation: works never.
godslabrat #7 Posted June 15, 2013 SNES units are incredibly reliable. If this dude jacked his up enough that it "sometimes" doesn't work, it must be majorly damaged.
0078265317 #8 Posted June 16, 2013 Well here is one for 89. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 181131874780 and one for 10 but no reeseve. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 321142307960 But better paint job.
sqoon #9 Posted June 16, 2013 Are you set on getting a black Super Nintendo, or mainly just want to replace your currently chipped console no matter the color? Of the two auctions you linked, the first one appeals to my tastes more. The paint job looks pretty good, and none of the mixed colors seen in the second auction. 0078265317 #10 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) I don't care about the color just want to fix the chips. I was just saying black since we started talking about black. And 10 dollars is the cheapest I've seen. Or there is this. No chips but still ugly and dirty. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 330938271370 And no guarentee I can fix the 3 of them. Or even resell all three parts and break even. Or this eBay Auction -- Item Number: 271222748516 only 5 bucks and no chips but still dirty. Reaperman #11 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Here's some piece of crap nobody should ever want. Should I buy it? No. Is there something wrong with buying normal, working super nintendos? Maybe look for two that are only half discolored, and put together for a normal case. Edited June 16, 2013 by Reaperman
0078265317 #12 Posted June 16, 2013 (edited) Ok I've got a bid going on a white one right now. Edit: I just won this 15 free shipping. Looks good shape. All white. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 161044398401 Edited June 16, 2013 by 0078265317
Rex Dart #13 Posted June 17, 2013 The question is does the black look ugly or should I buy it? Looks like shit.
Video #14 Posted June 23, 2013 IIR Super Nintendo got the "play it loud" treatment just like gameboy (and later, N64, though called something else) I also remember a KI bundle with a black SNES, but I could be remembering it wrong. That system looks like just a crap job from a shaker can or something. And the "sometimes" bit, yeah, don't waste your money.
Uzumaki #15 Posted June 24, 2013 You're sure? I thought SNES only came in grey color, both the original and Jr? And that play it loud type color for non portable didn't start until N64?
