Is '125' truly the amount of officially released Intellivision game?

Well, Star Wars US-Version has title music, Star Wars European Version has no title music, maybe the real number is 126? :-o

Wha wha?

By the way, I didn't say what Cebus would be doing with his Banhammer. If i were you I'd be on the lookout for a guy with a white van who appears to have a giant vat of industrial strength lube on the passenger seat. Just sayin. :)

I agree, lets go the other way!

All variations are to be counted, so instead of 125 we now need to aim for 500 or so.

CMart we need that full Intellivision list - get cracking.

[actually, I should have not bothered...... still not really contributing am I ?]

That is my goal one day, for Rev and I to have a list on his website, although we'd need a certain couple of Aussies to assist with a certain part of the list. ;) :-D

if we are basing it all on just rom variations released which i think is the only possible qualification for a "new game" it brings the total to 132. auto racing, armor battle, space battle, pac-man, lv poker, empire strikes back, basketball. those are the released rom variants. however, empire strikes back, pac-man, and lv poker have no change in game play. just title changes.

but the graffix are the same!

No way modern baseball game makers like EA would release the same game year after year with just a few tweeks and a year/name change!

Rev FTW.

Sweet! Someone is on my side!

In a seriousness, the 125 will not change.

But is it not good to question things sometimes and not accept things blindly?

This statement goes for real life too. ;-)

@ cmart

I am afraid I have bad news for you: You will never own every Intellivision variant and you will never even know every variant :P he early 80s were a time of outlaw publishers and I doubt that even they can create a complete list of there variants back in that time.

Serious question: Does Elektronite raise the number? If I understand it right they are licensed by Intellivision and they are a business, so its different to other homebrews. Since they are releasing licensed games like Hover Bovver, isnt it wrong if we would NOT count them to the official releases?

If everything is liscensed, its official, what do you think?

Original 125 is the back in the day commercial release number. We've always viewed the newer releases as a separate group, licenced or not.

I have a different opinion. I didnt counted newer releases, because they are not licensed by the right owners, they are just games from people who love the console and do this as a hobby, maybe with a small profit. Elektronite is a business, not Apple, but a business. They are licensed, so they are releasing official games, doesnt matter if its 24 years after the last game was released.

If I look at this topic as you do, I would also doubt if INTV Corp releases are official, because it was after Mattel. Its not blasphemic, its just facing the truth: The 125 is definitely dead, because there are new official games for this old console :P

When we were making a list of the best official Atari games we had a similar conversation about the licensed Boulder Dash.

When one of the programmers considered his game together with the at the time available games, I said:

So you're saying Boulder Dash just lost his first place in the hombrew carts.

And that I should ban it from my homebrew collection icon_sad.gif

Personally I think beeing lincesed by First Star Software is really great, a historical fact in .... ... the homebrew scene.

Yes, I prefer to consider BD as homebrew because I can say you and Thomas worked as a community, in a community and for a community of Atari lovers much more than I could say it was a product developed as a business, in a company and for the market of gaming.

As I've heard, BD engine was/will be released in prol of everyone. That's really great! icon_thumbsup.gif icon_thumbsup.gif icon_thumbsup.gif

I really want to see more companies joining the great Atari homebrewers like FSS did. Big companies can cooperate with homebrew games.

Imagine Bomberman (like suggested in BD thread) licensed by Konami (current owner of Bandai) joining us!

So, in a sense, Elektronite is much closer to a company which makes official releases.

To truly consider Elektronite's games together with the 125, we are actually saying Intellivision Lives!

Wow! :-o

What a coincidence!

I just saw Boulder Dash announcement! A few minutes before posting about Boulder Dash for Atari 2600! :-o :-o :-o

Speaking of ROM variants, does anyone have (did anyone rescue) the info from the old "decle" site (www.decle.co.uk)?

there is a separation of years between the 'Original 125' and any other official releases.

I think it is nostalgic to keep the original releases separate.

Original = 125

Official = 125 + whatever gets released with a license or is an original game

Fan Released = ???

Okay, thats a good deal.

The original 125 stays, but the official number grows. So a Set with the 125 games, but missing Hover Bovver is original, but not a full set :) I know that some people dont like that, but I dont know why: Its great that the Intellivision has enough life in it, that the number of official releases is growing 30 years after its greatest time.

But if you ask me, you have to make a difference between homebrews and unlicensed Elektronite games and the games which were made after getting the liscense. The games which have the Intellivision liscense are no homebrews.
