Fixing My Super nintendo?

Recommended Posts

My vidoe won't upload to youtube. But here are good pics I found.

Fourth post down including the original poster. Second pic with the shvc sound module thing.

I have that. I got the broken super nintendo off ebay many years ago. It works great just heavily chipped.

The broken super nintendo I got off ebay few days ago doesn't have the shvc removable sound thing. It doesn't work at all. So I replaced the case top with the other unit I have.

The bottom doesn't replace because its different than the other one I have. So I just did the top.

Pause the video at exactly 2 minutes and 50 seconds.

You'll see at the back right no shvc module. Just some metal thing.

1. Is the svhc more rare.

2. Why were there 2 different models. Both are bricks and not jrs.

3. I finally got the non shvc one working. (it has bad power port. very chipped. But still gets power surprisingly.)

But no video. I giggled the reset switch a few times and got a video signal. Now it works.

Then after swapping cases it broke again. No video. I slapped it a few times and video is back on.

So what's going on with the video any ideas. I'm going to ebay it anyway. But just curious on thoughts.

Thanks

Question: What is an shvc module? I have taken many SNES apart and repaired them but have not heard this term used until now.

Wow it was working yesterday. Anyhow it looks like this.

Edit first post link works only the second doesn't.

Try this also.

From the site you linked

This is the SHVC Plug-in Sound Module for the earlier SNES model consoles that have this separate sound module.

Sounds like not all units have this chip, only earlier models.
