Recommended Posts

So far on google I either find nothing or Cart based releases. Does anyone here have a list of the cassettes released with model numbers by atari?

Looked briefly at your a8museum. Just a note about the 800 blurb. It mentions modems 'to surf the web'. The 800 pre-dates the web. You would have dial-up connections

to BBSes, but no web. Even today, I guess there are some people that hook up an A8 to the web, by some kind of ethernet dodad (lantronic?). There are still

a few BBSes, but the A8 just doesn't do web browser like Int. Explorer/Firefox/Chrome/Safari. The beginning of the 'web' was probably AOL. It started out as

a dial up service. And there was the Cleveland Freenet which was sorta web-like, was dial-up also. I know someone that still uses a dial-up modem on

the web, so it is possible. But the graphics intensity of 'surfing' is basically too bandwidth intense to do much with dial-up. The A8 maxes out at about

9600 baud. A common DSL or cable connection is 3 to 5 megabaud, some connections much higher. You can do e-mail today with dial-up. My friend

also does graphics stuff. He downloads it overnight and then he can look at it in the morning. He has a real browser though on his PC.

Yes I'll go back to that and edit it. I'm so use to the term web for things when in the 80s it was news groups and message boards and such. Oversight on my part.

I wish there were some way to emulate (or simulate) the releases with audio. I have a 410 and a 1010 and a handful of cassettes

but they won't last forever.
