Text Lable Color Variations

Recommended Posts

I noticed the rarity guide doesn't seem to list all color variants for the Atari games. It is well known that all text label games were available in all colors (red, blue, green, yellow, purple, orange) so they just aren't listed?

Also, the picture labels also seem to be in many colors (orange, red, yellow, green [light and dark], blue, purple). I've found a blue and a yellow text Sky Diver recently, so it appears they come in different colors also for the same games...

Many text-label games were released in a couple of different colors, but no game was released in ALL colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). Many came in two or sometimes three colors, while others only came in one (usually red or yellow/gold/faded yellow).

AFAIK, only Video Chess was released with purple text.

For variations, I think I may just stop at having one of the text and one of the picture labels unless I get them really cheap or "free" in lots. Label variation collecting is a tough road to go down.... :)

I would also collect Sears, but I almost never see those in the wild- especially picture labels. I am missing most all of them...

For the Atari text labels, if they come in a color other than red or faded gold, I'll collect those variations. I have a green Flag Capture, but I want to get the orange one too. Orange Indy 500 seemed to take me a while to find in good condition for some reason (it isn't rare or anything), but gold ones abound. Still looking for blue Brain Games (or orange!), too. Eventually I want to replace all my "gold" labels (which I suspect are really just faded yellow) with the bolder yellow ones.

I do the same thing with Sears. About 90% of the Sears text label titles came in yellow, and I've been recently picking up things like red Canyon Bomber, orange Race (actually a gatefold cartridge), and green Poker Plus just to break up the yellow, yellow, yellow, really faded yellow, pretty faded yellow, yellow, yellow...
