How much should I pay for a boxed 2600?

I have a guy at my flea market who saves Atari related items for me, and lately he's been talking about a complete Atari 2600 in box. He was telling me he could sell it to me for $140. Anyway, I wasn't sure about the price, so I figured I'd ask you guys. What's a fair price for a good condition CIB Atari 2600?

I purchased two on eBay in the last 6 months, both boxed and complete with joysticks/paddles and paperwork. Paid around $45 for each plus something like $16 shipping. One was a 6 switch and the other a 4 switch. They are both immaculate, no scratches and work perfectly. The boxes have some wear, but are complete. Hope that helps.

If the box and contents are immaculate, then $100-ish. If the box is worn and manuals and inner packaging materials are missing, then $60-$70 sounds right around my neck of the woods. Hope that helps. Keep us posted as to what you decide to do.

You also have to consider why you want it. You don't buy in box to use and play, you buy to collect.

I buy everything I can boxed, and out of 450 NTSC games, all but 2 are boxed. All my consoles are boxed. Many of my controllers are boxed. Other Atari things (Halloween costumes, MPC model kits) are boxed. Boxes just aren't about collectibility, although they certainly help; boxes are places to store things when not being used as well as having items complete.

As for the OP's question, I'd say about $60 without a pic or knowing the condition. Go up or down from there.
